This poll was conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy of Washington, D.C. It
is two polls – one of 800 registered Hawaii voters conducted September 12-17 and
another of 400 Native Hawaiian adults conducted September 17-19. Both polls
were conducted by telephone, utilizing both land-lines and cell phones.
Each poll included three identical questions related to the proposed Thirty Mile
Telescope (TMT) on Mauna Kea. The results among Native Hawaiians who
indicated they were registered to vote were blended with the statewide poll
results and weighted to properly reflect their percentage of Hawaii voters.
The margin for error on the statewide voter poll is +/-3.5% and the margin for
error on the poll of Native Hawaiian adults is +/-5%.
