NEW Membership Category
Who, What, Where, When, Why & How!

WHO? Undergraduate or graduate students who fit one of the following:

Undergraduate enrolled in an institution offering an education degree and have the intent to continue academically and pro-
fessionally in the field of education.
Must be enrolled within the last two years of their undergraduate education degree (documentation should show this).
Graduate student collegiate members shall have graduate standing in an institution offering an education degree and have
the intent to continue academically and professionally in the field of education.

WHAT?

Collegiate members will participate in activities of the chapter but are not allowed to hold an office.
Collegiate members years-of-membership will count toward eligibility for TSO Scholarships

WHERE?

Membership should be in a chapter in the geographic location where the student is attending a university. Some special con-
ditions may apply if student is a commuter or on-line student.
When a student completes her degree and starts her career as a paid educator, she will pay active member dues and begin
her career as an active member. If she needs to transfer chapters due to employment in another area, TSO will assist
her in finding a chapter for this purpose.

WHEN?

RIGHT NOW! Chapters may begin inviting collegiate members during this 2018-2019 Membership year!
The current membership/dues & fees chart, found on the TSO Website Treasurer’s Page shows what a collegiate member
shall pay.

WHY & HOW?

Get the word out! Members in chapters where a school or district has student teachers should look critically at these young
women as prospective members.
This may be our largest and most important group of potential members anywhere in the field of teacher education. They
are eager to begin teaching and open to learning their craft. DKG can be a powerful influence.
Schedule a time to talk to young women who are on college/university campuses where you live. Take them the brochure
“A Journey for Life” and ask them to share this with others they know in their education classes.
Ask college/university faculty if you may leave some of these free brochures in their student teaching and advising offices.
You can get the brochures from DKG International for just the price of postage. They come in packs of 25. Put chapter
name and contact information on the back of the brochure so students can reach out to you.
