Procedure to Update VCM Software

Preparation before start of installation

A. Ensure Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is installed on the laptop.
To check, go to Control Panel, select "Add or Remove Program".
If not install, go to Window Update to download & install this free software
B. The vcm_m0046_MCFS.mot file save in one of the file directory of your laptop
C Close UpTime and all other applications.
Note: Close UpTime before connecting the cable to next truck if perfoming updating on multiple truck.

1. Remove cup holder to access the GSE connector. Connect GSE cable to GSE connector.

2. Turn Key to "ON" position.

3. Start Uptime. Click on Grendia Model.

4. Click on "Firmware Update".

5. Check if current version is 0034, 0035, 0036 or 0042. (Note: If version is 0046, no need to update software)
6. If version is below 0046, click on "Select" and locate the vcm_m0046_MCFS.mot file where you have save it.
7. Select the vcm_m0046_MCFS.mot file and click Open.

8. Click "Update". A pop up box will appear. Click "Yes" to confirm update.
The updating process will take approximately 1 minute to complete.
<Caution>: DO NOT unplug the GSE Cable or turn Key OFF during installation or run other applications
in the background. It may damaged the VCM.

9. Updating is successful when a box showing "Firmware update successful" appear. Click "OK".
(Note: Display may show P03, P07, E03 or F73 after updating is completed)
10. Turn key to "OFF". After 5 seconds, turn key to "ON" position.
11. Click on "Firmware Update" to confirm the version is now 0046.

12. After updating the new software, error code P03, P07, E03 or F73 will appear.
13. Click on "Fault History" and clear the history by clicking on "Clear".

Communication error (P03, E03) appears because VCM and ECM can't communicate during installation

14. To clear code E03, click on "Connection change" and change Target from VCM1-1M to ECM. Click "OK".

15. Click on "Active Test" and select tab "Active Test8".

16. Click "Execute" for Clear Self-diagnostic result to clear the history.
17. A box will appear to confirm complete. Click "OK".

18. Click on "Connection change" and change Target from ECM to VCM1-1M. Click "OK".
19. Click on "Fault Status" to confirm no current error code.
Note: If error code E03 still appear, turn key to "OFF".
After 5 seconds, turn key to "ON" position and repeat step 14 to 19.

20. Turn key to "OFF".

21. Write the software version 0046 on cable tie flag (P/N 16A39-00400) with a permanent ink.
22. Secure the cable tie flag to the GSE connector.

23. Close Uptime and disconnect GSE cable. Operate truck to confirm it is OK.
