Case Analysis
Case Study 1: Progress In The Struggle For More Meaningful Development:
Brazil

I. INTRODUCTION

Brazil is facing the two faces of development as their country is almost under the
brink of failing economy. Despite their large scale of industrial sectors, there are in
the midst of a spurt of economic development that change is not a simple solution as
inequality of the poor is evident losing their potential of their manpower.

II. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Problems with the infrastructure of Brazil was main concern of it, it continue on
which hinder their growth and national income. They became highly indebted country
as their growth performance was not yet stable and using alternatives use by other
countries was not yet applicable in their situation. By 2011, the life expectancy of the
population was 73 years of life and their mortality rate is not high compare to other
countries; 16 out of 1000 live births are under mortality. Additionally 7% of the
children under the age of five are suffering from malnutrition due to poverty. Years
pass on and the average per capita income of Brazil improve by 220% by 1960 to
1980, despite that the decline in the share of the poor population has a 34% rate.
There are 10.8% people in Brazil whose income is only $2 a day, in which 6.1% live
under very extreme poverty. There are those who also live with $1.25 and 15% of
Brazilians whose income are less than $1 a day. Cause of this is the inequality of
share of income between the poor and the rich, evidently when the 10% high
revenue earners of the country earns 43% of the countries national income. The high
excessive use of assets by the high class became apparent while others are unable
fortunate to use it. Lands are also distributed unequally as the political power are
controlling the land properties of the country. Even when they have large scale
subsidized for mining, industries relating to charcoal-consumption and cattle
ranching, they are unable to fix the countries growth. Racism is still present in Brazil
as white workers tend to have higher income than black workers who usually lives in
the slums.

III. ALTERNATIVES

The government should improve the living standards of the people and lessen
the corruption inside the political power. Having equally distribution of income would
benefit of income which makes the workers to be motivated. Health services should
also be improve to help malnourished children and others. Maximize the efficiency of
their high manpower under their industrial sectors.
IV. Proposed Solution

The use of their manpower would highly benefit the country, so improving the
social working etiquette and professionalism is a good step to do so. The distribution
of income would improve the situation and not base on their class, race or color but
their contributions

V. RECOMMENDATIONS

Prioritizing on education, health services and city governing should be focusing

on to funding the government as their main assets are not only resources but also
their manpower, motivated workers tend to improve the national GPD and national
income.
