United Nations. Lately, Indonesia was being discussed in the United Nations because Indonesia
started to play the important role as World – Peacekeepers of the United Nations.
Since the beginning of the history of mankind, war is inevitable. The Second World War
recorded over 62 million of casualties, to prevent bigger wars that may annihilate mankind,
through United Nations Security Council Indonesia could implement the fourth paragraph of The
Constitutions Text of The Republic of Indonesia 1945, to participate in carrying out world order
based on independence, eternal peace and social justice.
United Nations Security Council is one of the six main division of United Nations with the
main mandatory is to keep the world piece. The United Nations Charter determined that:
Indonesia has been selected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security
Council for the period 2019-2020 on June 8th, 2018 with Germany, South Africa, Belgium and the
Dominican Republic. Indonesia will begin its tenure on January 1, 2019 until December 31, 2020.
The membership of the Indonesian Security Council was the fourth time, after Indonesia had
previously become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 1974-1975, 1995-
1996, and 2007-2008.
Indonesia priority issues for the implementation of Indonesia's non-permanent membership in the
period 2019-2020 has set 4 Priority Issues and 1 Special Attention Issue:
1. Continuing the contribution of the Indonesian Government in its efforts to realize world
peace, among others through strengthening the ecosystem / geopolitics of global peace
and stability by promoting peaceful dialogue and resolution of conflicts.
2. Building synergies between regional organizations to maintain peace and stability in the
region. In this case the emphasis is on the need to strengthen regional organizations, given
the current dynamic challenges, the role of regional organizations is important and needed
to deal with problems.
3. Increasing cooperation between countries and the UN Security Council to combat
terrorism, extremism and radicalism.
4. The Indonesian government will also try to synergize efforts to create peace with
sustainable development efforts
Ensuring peace, security and stability to ensure compliance with Agenda 2030,
including in Africa
Establish a Global Partnership in discussing the security implications of the
economy, health and the environment
Increasing the role of women in the peace process.
In addition, Indonesia will also pay special attention to the Palestinian issue.
