WOFEX 2019

The WOFEX was my first experience of attending a large food expo. It was

definitely a new and exciting experience especially because it was a first for me. Being a

former Business Administration student, I could say that there are a lot of difference

compare to the usual business expo where there are just people, tables, and papers that

the representative will discuss to those who are interested, where in WOFEX you will be

entertained by the variety of products and opportunities as well as the free samples of

products offered by the participants. Many participants of the expo also offer a much

cheaper product compare to their mall selling prize so many guests surely enjoyed it as

well as I am.

WOFEX took place at the SMX Convention Centre in MOA. Holding the wofex there

is very favorable to every people who wants to attend or to join the event. Commuters

from the north can simply take an MRT ride going to Taft station then take a short walk

to the venue or simply drive your own car and invite your friend to accompany you and

make it a joy ride as well just like what me and my friends did. We decided to make our

school as our pick up point then head all together at the venue. Heavy traffic is expected

and it took us 2 hours drive but the traffic was nothing when you are accompanied by

your crazy friends.


We arrive at the SMX at exactly 2pm and being a first timer at the food expo, I was

surprised on how many varieties of food and products that are offered inside. Being a

coffee lover, I enjoyed the most the coffee section where they offered a vast variety of

coffee and machines that are offered. Though I was tempted to get my own machine, I

just couldn’t cause of lack of budget. My friends and I try almost all the beverages that

are offered and came back so many times, we are just awed by the variety and flavors

that are concocted in front of us and trying each and every shot that are made.

Food on the other hand was stunning, mouth watering and worth it. Wide

varieties coming from different countries can be seen in just one place and you can almost

compare it to having a world tour in a single place.

Seeing the event, I can say that it was a successful one considering the number of

the participants and the guests who attended. Although, conducting an event always have

its share of strength and weaknesses. Here are some of the most noticeable strength and

weaknesses that I’ve noticed.

Strength

 High number of participants which help the prices to keep at a low level.

 The event took place at a very accessible venue that has a lot of parking

space for those who brought a vehicle.

 Wide choice of opportunity for those who wants to start up on their own

business.
Weakness

 Few companies that offers a small franchise capital.

 Too many companies focus on offering similar products.

 Lack of media coverage to further promote the event.

 Majority of Participants already made up a name for them self, making it

difficult for starters.

While looking around, we were able to find some small business that offers

franchising. I am western cuisine the most, so I got really interested on Nacho King and

Nacho papa and asks about some of their franchising details. They both offer a great deal

for franchising; for me, I will personally choose Nacho King since that they are already

known to many and they already have a recognized name in the industry. They offer

₱770,000.00 as a premium franchise that will include a Kiosk that are perfect for mall,

supermarket of better if you have your own place to put it up to, everything that the store

needed will be included on that prize including 2 weeks of standard store supply. The

package also includes a year of contract with the company compare to their 2 nd offer

which is the standard package that offers ₱580,000.00. this package doesn’t have much

of difference from the premium one except that the kiosk will only be half the size from

the premium and only have a week of standard store supply. Their third option is the

Factory Store Outlet Package. This package will only cost ₱375,000.00 but will only suit a

retail, wholesale, and distribution to table top package.


All packages is said to have a 6 months ROI but will still depends on the store

location and the daily population of the area.
