Introduction

Active directory failure is probably one of the worst scenarios a company undergoes in

cases where the backup system does not exist. When the active directory crushes, it causes

information contained in that network to be lost. In this case, a viable plan can be implemented

using windows tools to schedule daily backups (Resnitzky, 2017) effectively.

AOMEI Backupper will be an integral tool in this process. It is a software which is

utilized to back up and restore data from the recent backup file. It is one of the best for both

business and personal uses. To come up with a good backup plan; it should contain two or more

domain controllers in each domain. Furthermore, files being backed up should be well thought

of, and they include; system state and system's disk contents. The intervals at which the backup

takes place is also crucial, and, in this case, it should be scheduled after every twenty-four

hours. The software allows the user to back up the data in four schedule modes; all depending

on the user's preference, which is daily, weekly, monthly and when a particular event triggers

the backup action. For a daily routine, a time frame will be put in place, and the back up will

take place every day at the stated time frame.

The software has four buttons, as shown in the diagram below. The buttons are quite

straight forward regarding when backing up system files and restoring them. All that needs to

be done is to download the software and install it. Say if a system can’t reboot, a CD-ROM can

be used after setting the bios to boot from the CD-ROM. After that, the software in question

contained in the disc will automatically run.

PowerShell is a framework for task automation and the management of specific

configurations made available by Microsoft. It performs tasks which are similar to command

prompt but with a little modification and several differences on how to execute some given

commands. Some of the basic commands in PowerShell are as shown below;

COMMAND ALIAS CMDLET NAME DESCRIPTION

% ForEach-Object Performs actions on every

item (inputs and outputs)

? Where-object Selects objects depending on

various aspects

Ac Add-Content Adds any form of data to a

given file.

Cat Get-content Gets content from a given

location

Clc Clear-content Removes content from a

given location

Compare Compare-object Compares objects

Copy Copy-Item Copies items

Gc Get-content Gets content from a given

file.

Gsv Get-service Gets service from a locally

based computer.

(Artuso, 2016).

The commands above are some of the basic commands used in PowerShell. However,

there are quite many commands which can be learned as one uses the software to carry out

several different activities.

Creating a PowerShell account is easy. The following is an illustration of how an

account with a given password can be created in PowerShell. The diagrams also illustrate the

codes which can be used when creating different groups and adding people to those same

groups.

(Adams, 2017).

Bot the command line and PowerShell are powerful and useful tools used to execute

various administrative tasks using scripts. However, they do have their differences as the

PowerShell has more administration capabilities as compared to the Windows command line.

It is more advanced and fitted with additional features. These features enable system

administrators to manage various networks.
