Level 10
Learning Describe the different types of plate boundaries.
Competency Explain the different processes that occur along the plate boundaries Quarter 1

Knowledge : Identify the geologic events and features resulting from the Week 3
Learning collision of two continental plates
Objectives Skills : Explain the processes that occur along converging two
continental plates.
Day 3
Attitudes : Create a jingle that demonstrates the collision of two
continental plates.
Duration
Topic: Type of Plate Boundaries: Convergence of Two Continental Plates

Resources Video clip showing the formation of Himalayas

Needed

PROCEDURE:
Element of
the Plan

Awareness What is the highest peak in Cebu? Philippines? How about the highest mountain in the
world? How do you think most of the tall mountains are formed?

Showing the video clip of the formation of Himalayas and let the students explain the
Activity processes that occur along converging two continental plates through interactive discussion.

What do you think is formed when two continental plates converged? What other geologic
Analysis event could take place with this type of plate movement?

When two continental plates converge, a collision zone is formed. Unlike the other two types
Abstraction of convergent boundaries, subduction ceases for this particular type of convergence. No
trench, no volcano, and definitely no island arc are created during this process. Instead, what
is created is a large group of tall mountains called mountain range.
In terms of the consequences on the Earth’s lithosphere, how will you differentiate this type
Application of convergent plate boundary with the other two?

Presentation of jingle that demonstrates the collision of two continental plates. The
Assessment assessment is based on the output presented. They will be rated with the following criteria:
A. Content and Information ( 10 pts)
B. Volume and Clarity of Voice (5 pts)
C. Teamwork ( 5pts)
Read pages 26-27, Science 10 LM. Enumerate the results of plates that are moving apart
