 ADB has forecasted India’s growth at 7.3% for FY19
ADB has released Asian Development Bank Outlook Supplement on 12th
December 2018 , where it retained its India’s growth forecast at 7.3 per
cent for the current fiscal and 7.6 per cent in the following financial year

Provisions of the Bill
 It covers any person whose gender does not match the gender assigned at birth, as well as transmen ,
transwomen, those with intersex variations and the gender-queer

 Earlier there was no option of self declaration for a transgender but now according to the new bill , a person
would have the right to choose to be identified as man , woman or transgender , irrespective of Sex
Reassignment Surgery(SRS) and Hormonal therapy- called as Self Identification

 It also provides for punishment of upto two years imprisonment for crimes against transgender persons based
on the severity of offence

 The bill has laid the requirement that a district screening committee must recommend the issue of a
certificate to each transgender may be necessary to prevent misuse

 Bill criminalizes begging by making it an offence for someone to compel or entice a transgender person into
seeking alms

 Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was initially aimed at providing clean
cooking fuel to 5 crore women from households classified as eligible over a
period of three years

 Under it ,the government bears a burden of Rs 1,600 per connection and

almost an equal amount is borne by beneficiaries who either pay upfront or
take a loan from the oil marketing companies
