Learning Activities or Instructional Strategies
Class will begin with a brief informational video to teach students the truths behind the Salem Witch Trial, emphasizing that everyone accused was not necesarrily executed.
Students will begin reading Arthur Miller's, "The Crucible" in class by placing their desks in a large circle and assigning roles to themselves to read the characters' dialogue
throughout the play. Students will read text aloud and add to their guided notes for Act I while reading. Discussion points will be made throughout the reading to ensure reading
comprehension, identification of characterization traits, plot development, and connections to Puritanism, the Salem Witch Hunts, and McCarthyism.
