Do-Now/Mini-lesson/Warm-up
Act I of "The Crucible" summary (in-class brief discussion before reading)
Learning Activities or Instructional Strategies
Students will continue reading Arthur Miller's, "The Crucible" in class after discussing their thoughts and observations from Act I. Students will place their desks in a large circle to
continue the structure of a lit circle as a full class and read off characters' dialogue through roles assigned by the students themselves (volunteer). Students will read text aloud and
add to their guided notes for Act II while reading. Discussion points will be made throughout the reading to ensure reading comprehension, identification of characterization traits,
plot development, and connections to Puritanism, the Salem Witch Hunts, and McCarthyism. Reflections on Act I will also be noted in discussion.
