PURPOSE:
To minimize the hazards and the risks associated with the hazards while
carrying out Grinding activity.
.
SCOPE: Applicable to Grinding activity carried out any where under
execution function.

RESPONSIBILTY:
Site in-charge / Site engineer / Safety officer / Vendor Supervisor /
Workmen

PROCEDURE:

 No inflammable/ combustible material to be kept near grinding

activity
 Use PPEs like Safety helmet with Face shield, apron, gloves,, Safety
shoe, full body safety harness etc
 Ensure the protective guards are installed in grinding machine
 Use proper grinding wheel for the application
 Check for the expiry date of the grinding wheel. Never use the expired
wheel.
 Ensure that RPM of grinding wheel is greater than RPM of grinding
machine.
 For higher elevation work make proper platform and required height
work permit
 Provide proper earthing and 30 mA ELCB for the electrical connection

IN CASE OF DEVIATIONS:
Below are the risks that would arise if there are any deviations from the
stated procedure.
 Body injury
 Eye injury
 Fire
 Fall from height
 Flying pieces of grinding wheel if broken during operation

MITIGATION ACTION IN CASE OF DEVIATION:

Follow First Aid procedures
Fire extinguisher
RECORDS:
Fire fighting training
Height work permit
Training
