During the debate, we exposed lots of different points of view and we confronted some ideas,
as well. I belonged to the builders group and from my point of view, I believe that we had
some good ideas in terms of building an ecological resort, with lots of green spaces and using
as much renewable resources as possible. I also found very interesting the environmentalists`
thoughts because they were really trying to protect the island as much as possible, even more
than the natives. It was a very interesting debate and I learnt that there are certain ways of
doing things that can reduce our impact on the environment and on the planet. I think that we
should do more debates like this because we can all discuss different ideas in a very peculiar
way.
After finishing the debate, the teacher revised the future actions and explained the differences
between will, going to and the present continuous, which are:
We use will for predictions, promises and intentions, for example: I promise I´ll bring
you a chocolate tomorrow;
We use going to for plans and decisions, for example: She`s going to visit her aunt
next month (before going to, it always comes the verb to be);
We use the present continuous to express something that will take place in a near
future, like: The concert is happening on Saturday.
Before the end of the class, the teacher formed new groups and gave different tasks to each
group, which we started preparing for next class. My group`s task was reading a text, and then
each one of us had to summarise one paragraph of the text. The theme of our text is the water
crisis and how people in the Western (ourselves) face that problem. I think that we`ll have a
very interesting presentation next week and we may surprise some of our classmates.
