Golf Guide
of
Marbella
Located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, Marbella enjoys a micro-climate with moderate temperatures
throughout the year. This is, without a doubt, one of the main attractions of an area that has become a
tourist and social point of reference around the world, with the highest number of golf courses in Spain
– an attractive destination offering elite professionals and quality sports tourism.

Greenlife Golf
The greens are large and offer a
considerable variety of pin placings. The
layout is well defined by its abundant
vegetation, including palm trees and oaks.
Water features on the 1st and 2nd holes and
there is a river adjacent to the 5th and 9th.
The club’s restaurant, El Lago, has a
Michelin star.
The Guadalmina Norte course is generally considered less difficult than its Guadalmina Sur
counterpart, although it covers more terrain, is more undulating, contains a greater number of trees and
is protected by more water hazards. The Chopo stream bisects the course from north to south – it
comes into play at the 17th, for example – and, as if this weren’t enough, there are lakes at the 7th, 9th,
11th and 18th holes. The course was designed by Folco Nardi and opened in 1972.
The course is one kilometre from San Pedro Alcántara, just past the center of this town, in the
direction of Estepona on the A-7 highway.

GOLF LA DAMA DE
NOCHE Golf
The first course in Europe to stay
open 24 hours a day, the Dama de
Noche takes its name from the
flowering shrub whose fragrance is
only smelt at night-time. The major
innovation at this nine-hole par-28
layout is a lighting system artfully
sited in strategic points so as to cast
no shadows, thus obviating the
need to hack through the darkness
trying to find your ball. You have to
take special care because of the water hazards and narrow fairways. Dama de Noche is the closest
course to Puerto Banús.
Take the Puerto Banús exit at the Río Verde curve by the BMW showrooms.

The 11th starts from yet another raised tee, skirts a lake and ends at a green with a waterfall on the
right. The variable terrain means that the first nine holes are shorter and more complicated, and the
second, longer and more relaxing. On the A-7 highway, in the direction of Málaga, about 11 kilometres
from central Marbella, take the Elviria
turn-off.

Monte Paraíso Golf
This nine-hole par-three course, located two minutes away from the
centre of Marbella, in the direction of the mountain and close to the
exclusive Sierra Blanca urbanisation, features beautiful sea views. It has
carefully manicured fairways and wide greens. The holes range from 71
to 149 metres, with the 3rd, 4th and 5th presenting most difficulties.
Its layout winds around hills, lakes and slight slopes, while the
installations are complemented by a putting area and clubhouse.

Golfers can appreciate the attention to detail in this golf course. The clubhouse, a multi-storey affair,
provides excellent service for the visiting golfer, met in the car park with a buggy. The course is mainly
flat although the 8th rises steeply to the highest point – the 9th, a par-5 looking down to the
Mediterranean. Santa Clara has large greens and long par-threes. Opened in 2001, it is located close to
the Costa del Sol Hospital and a fine addition to Marbella’s golfing family.
On the A-7 highway, in the direction of Málaga, about 6 kilometresfrom central Marbella, take Los

Aloha
Aloha was designed by Javier Arana and features a wide variety of holes. Most of the fairways are fairly
wide, though danger lurks on either side, but the greens are tricky, especially the par-five 10th with its
adjacent lake. In recent years the club has benefitted from several improvements, namely replanted
fairways and a refurbishment of the clubhouse and changing rooms. In 2007, 2008 and 2012 the club
hosted the Andalucian Open, on the European Tour.
From the A-7 highway, between Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara, take the Nueva Andalucía turn-off
at Puerto Banús and follow the signs.
