 INTRODUCTION

Many students nowadays, are so dependent in taking some alternative medicine for curing

disease, especially those who are experiencing headache. However, there are also some students are

using a kind of medication like a herbal plant where we can get it from our natural resources. But what

if, there’s an emergencies and you need to medicate immediately and some students are not financially

stable to buy a medicine.

There are other herbal plants that the students can use as a medicine for headache like

Katakataka herbal plant. Katakataka (Scientific name: Byrophyllum Pinnatum) is also know as miracle

plant/leaf, air plant, cathedral bells, and leaf of life. The word “Katakataka” means “Marvelous” and this

plant really deserves its name due to its amazing characteristics. Some of us can’t take medicine

because we’re not financially stable and even though nowadays, there are an affordable medicine we

can buy on pharmacy stores, some students didn’t like taking medicine because of its taste.

We came up to this kind of study because we, as a students, we know how it’s difficult to

have a headache while studying. In this study we would like to know how the students in Arellano

University Malabon-Elisa Esguerra Campus can accept Katakataka as an alternative headache

medication. Therefore, we can suggest it to students that they can use Katakataka as an alternative

headache medication.
 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

In our daily lives, we cannot avoid headaches this can happen frequently or occasionally

that can affect in our daily living. Katakataka is one of the herbal plant that can be use as a remedy or

treatment for headaches

We came up in this kind of study because we, as a student has encounter headaches for

some reason and we want to know the level of acceptance of our fellow students in using herbal plant

“Katakataka”.
 SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This research is limited in the analysis of the level of acceptance of students in Katakataka

herbal plant in 50 respondents who accept Katakataka as an alternative headache medication in

Arellano University Malabon – Elisa Esguerra Campus in S.Y. 2018-2019.

 SIGNIFICANCE AND BENEFICIARIES

The result of the study will be benefit the following entities:

To the students, the results will provide the students some knowledge about the usefulness of

Katakataka as an alternative headache medication and it will help them on how to medicate their

headaches without using any tablets medicine.

To parents, this study will help them to know the importance and the effectiveness of Katakataka in

curing some various diseases especially the headaches.

To the future researchers, this research will be useful reference to the researcher who would plan to

conduct a research underlying the miraculous herbal plant Katakataka.

 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of Katakataka to the students of Arellano
University Malabo – Elisa Esguerra Campus. This study aims to contribute to the knowledge of readers
about herbal medication of Katakataka and the effectiveness of it in curing mild pains such as headache.

This study has a following objectives:

 To know the effectiveness of Katakataka.

 To encourage the students to use Katakataka as an alternative headache medicine.

 To contribute to the knowledge of the readers about herbal medicine Katakataka.

Specifcally it answers the following questions:

 How effective the Katakataka as herbal medication?

 What are the advantages of using herbal medicine Katakataka?

 How is it important to know the use of katakataka as an alternative headache medication?
