I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Googolplex Technologies is a newly opened computer shop in Brgy.

Campetic, Palo, Leyte. It is situated in front of the school, Saint Paul School of
Professional Studies (SPSPS) and started its operations last November 2018. The
business is owned by Mr. Ramil Gidal who owns another branch of computer shop
named RARA Internet Café situated at two different locations: Robinsons
Marasbaras and Sto. Nino Street, Tacloban City.

Several sources have cited that a computer shop is quite easy to start. It
requires sufficient front capital and adequate technical knowledge about
computers. A computer shop has the potential to be quite a lucrative business in
today’s high-tech society. With the advancement of technology, computers play
an important role in the lives of many Filipinos. Since not everyone can afford
such costly appliance, they choose to rent computers at an hourly basis, thus, the
computer shops. Computers provide us the services that we need in this fast-
paced society, namely, building business connections, applying for jobs, playing
 games, communicating with loved ones, making school projects, and for social
media. Googolplex Technologies was established as a result of an increasing
demand for computer services.

Googolplex Technologies is a service-oriented sole proprietorship
computer shop that offers a wide range of computer-internet services.

Googolplex Technologies is owned by Mr. Ramil Gidal and managed by Mr. Gidal
himself, with the assistance of Mr. Gerald Yu and his wife, Mrs. Agnes Yu. Below
them are their employees namely Mr. Leo Tan, Mr. Ronald, and Mr. Jeremy Aure
who are in charge of the Customer Services and Café Attendants as well.

III. BUSINESS OPERATIONS

Business Location
Googolplex Technologies is located at Brgy. Campetic, Palo, Leyte. It is an
effective choice of location because it is in front of the school, Saint Paul School of
Professional Studies, and the area is occupied with boarding houses making it
accessible. There are also other business establishments around the area and some
government agencies. It makes it easier to promote the company to its target markets
without incurring costs. Googolplex Technologies opens 24 hours daily. Within the
5 months since the business started, Googolplex Technologies installed additional
PC’s for the development of its operations.

Services Offered
Googolplex Technologies offers a wide range of computer-internet services:
1. Internet Services – provides a way for data to be transferred
from Internet servers to your computer. Googolplex Technologies is a
company that provides access to internet.
2. Encoding – process of putting a sequence of characters into a special format
for transmission or storage purposes.
3. Printing – print jobs for brochures, company letterhead, newsletters, and
product catalogs, business documents of all types, etc.
4. Photocopying – produces a photographic copy of printed or written material
produced by a process involving the action of light on a specially prepared
surface.
5. POS Installation – Installation of Point of Sale System in computer software
program that tracks sales, inventory quantities and pricing information.
6. CCTV CAM Installation – Installation of CCTV cameras to improve security
controls, and monitors visible places and business premises.
7. Computer Repair – process of identifying, troubleshooting and resolving
problems and issues in a faulty computer. Computer repair is a broad field
encompassing many tools, techniques and procedures used to repair
computer hardware, software or network/Internet problems.

Despite the advantage of the location, Googolplex Technologies still has strong
competitors in the area that provides lower cost of few computer-internet services.

MELBRAND INTERNET CAFÉ

Melbrand Internet Café offers internet service at a rate of Php 15 per hour. It also
offers other services such as book binding, ring bound and soft bound; office
supplies; and food. The advantage of Melbrand is that it has an eatery on the right which
is a good strategy as to advertising and marketing wherein internet users will no longer
go outside to eat if they go hungry after browsing the web or the likes. And the
customers who eat at their eatery will potentially go to them to rent computers
for internet service since Melbrand Internet Café is just inside on the left of the building
itself.

GOG INTERNET CAFÉ

 GOG Internet Café offers photocopying services costing Php 1 per copy
for the black and white colored text. This is an effective way of attracting
customers looking for cheap photocopying cost in the area. It also offers
Lamination, Rush I.D, Typing Job, Tarpaulin, Flyers, and Invitation. It also offers
food like Silog Rice Meals, Softdrinks, and Coffee so customers will stay longer
since they don’t need to go outside to eat food when they go hungry. Their
internet service rate per hour is Php 15.

IPAD INTERNET AND GAMING STATION

IPAD Internet and gaming station offers CD Burn services from Black
CD’s, CDR, and CDRW to DVDR and DVDRW. They are the only internet café that offers
this services so it is an advantage for them because customers in the area who wants CD
Burn services will directly go to them and potentially become their loyal customers.
Their original internet service rate is Php 15 per hour but since they have a promo during
“BER” months, the internet service rate is Php 10.
Competitive Advantage
Googolplex Technologies’ has a wide range of services not limited
to providing internet services. They are the only computer shop that offers CCTV
Camera Installation and Point of Sale System (POS) Installation, giving them an
edge to their competitors. Their internet service regular rate per hour is Php 12
and the promo evening rate is Php 10 per hour. The business also is well-
ventilated compared to GOG, IPAD, and Melbrand.

From the commencement of the operation, the business

became popular with students and policemen. Eventually,
they became loyal customers of the company.
Googolplex has its biggest advantage due to its spot
located in front of SPSPS where students tend to be

attracted because of convenience and amenity.
Googolplex also gives promos and discounts to clients of
different computer services.
Googolplex also provides fragrant ambiance giving the
customer the chance to enjoy and to experience a high-
class internet café.

The Photocopy Service is weak in terms of profitability.

WEAKNESSES This is because of strong competition within the area and
the lower price offerings of its competitors.
Incompetent promotional and advertising materials
 Since the business started its operations, Googolplex
Technologies is still on the process of expanding their
computer services like creating other branches to other

V. MARKET ANALYSIS.
Googolplex Technologies is situated in front of a school and alongside
boarding houses as well as other business establishments. This is the key attribute
of the business in maximizing the market it needs in order to operate
successfully. It makes it easier to promote the company to its target markets
without incurring costs since they advertise their business through their signages
and word-of-mouth.

Market Needs
With the advancement of technology, many Filipino go to computer
shops for business connection, applying for jobs, playing games, communicating
with loved ones, making school projects, and for social media. Googolplex
 Technologies was established as a result of an increasing demand of computer
services.

Market Segmentation
Googolplex Technologies segments its customers by type of services they
demand. Most customers looks for specific detailed high-quality computer-
internet services nowadays.

At the start of the business, Googolplex's first customers were students and by-
passers. Through company signages and word-of-mouth, as months passed, the
company have grown its market to a wide range of clients asking for the
performance of computer services including computer repairs and installation of
CCTV cameras.

VI. COMPANY STRATEGY.

Sales Strategy
Googolplex Technologies offers internet service promo of 10 Php per
hour as their evening rate to attract customers. They also offer discount to
clients for services like mass production of photocopies, printing, and/or
additional CCTV CAM installation, etc. Googolplex advertises their business
using signages and word-of-mouth from clients. It requires computer literacy
for Googolplex’ employees. Staff is always available for customers in need of
assistance.

Marketing Strategy
The key attribute of the business is its location that makes it easier
to promote the company to its target markets without incurring costs since
they
 advertise their business through their signages and word-of-mouth. Since
Googolplex is a newly opened computer shop, management provided a novice
friendly environment staffed by knowledgeable employees available to assist
and serve customer needs. Googolplex attracts customers not only through
their signages but also because of the wide range of specific computer services
that they offer.

Business Policies and Strategies

Googolplex Technologies installed 1 CCTV Camera inside the building
premises so as to avoid business security dilemmas most computer shops
are facing nowadays. This also helps in ensuring customers' security which results
to the company gaining their trust and their loyalty, eventually. Another reason
for the customers to choose Googolplex is its ventilation. The ventilation
safeguards the computers from overheating and at the same time this serves as a
strategy to gain customer loyalty. Smoking is prohibited in the area too. This is to
ensure that the customers' health won't be at risk. The management and staff
closely monitors the operations of the company making it easier for
them to troubleshoot problems if needed and develop strategies to
increase the company's profit.

Key Milestones

The key milestones will be Googolplex Technologies’ guide in achieving

the company’s goal. The figure below shows the specific listing of key particulars
with the targeted dates to accomplish each milestone. Googolplex will make use
of these milestones to grow more in the next ten months. It will grab and make
opportunities to achieve the company’s goal.

VII. FINANCIAL ANALYSIS AND FORECASTS.

Mr. Ramil Gidal started putting up Googolplex Technologies with a capital

requirement of Php 700,000. Googolplex Technologies started operating with
15 computers installed and within five months it installed five additional PC’s in the
 business. Googolplex Technologies is using single-entry method in recording
its transactions with the use of working papers in Micrososft Excel. It recognizes
revenue transactions using cash basis method of accounting.

 Googolplex Technologies’ monthly sales and expenses report shows that from the
1st 10 months of operation, the sales increases gradually. This shows that Googolplex
Technologies is profitable over the first 10 months of operating as a computer shop in
Campetic, Palo Leyte. And there is a rapid return on investment as presented on the
figure below.

next five months of the company’s operations. The sales presented above is based on the
average return on investment (ROI) and the expenses is based on the estimate of the
company.

 Factual Findings and Recommendations

To the management of Googolplex Technologies,

We have performed all the procedures agreed with you and enumerated below
are findings and recommendations with the respect to the overall operation of
Googolplex Technologies as at September 6, 2019. Our engagement was undertaken in
accordance with PSRS 44oo applicable to agreed-upon procedures engagements. The
purpose of the engagement is solely to assist you in evaluating the validity of the overall
operations and are summarized as follows:
1. We have inquired from the management through interviews about the overall
operations of the business.
2. We have observed the actual business operations and checked the documents
necessary for the operations of the business.

We report our findings below:

1. The business have not complied with the requirements necessary to operate.
- A Certificate of Registration that should be issued by the BIR is still waiting
for release. Other compliance requirements are also pending.
2. The business does not exercise proper segregation of duties.
- We have observed that some employees of the business have more than one
function at a time. In situations like this, it can be inconvenient for the
employee to do two jobs at the same time. It may also give rise to fraudulent
activities and such.
3. The advertisements of the business is limited to “word-of-mouth”
advertising and posters.
- The business limits itself to only a few ways of advertisements. It misses its
chance to gain potential customers through other means of advertising.
4. The business does not apply proper accounting and recording of general
transactions.
 - The financial records of the business is chaotic. The expenses were not
properly recorded and there is a possibility that not all transactions are
recorded.

With respect to the findings our recommendations are as follows:

1. We recommend that the client continue to follow-up the pending legal
requirements so as not to have any problems regarding compliance.
2. We recommend that the client properly segregate the duties especially on the
accounting and recording of the major transactions of Googolplex. The
bookkeeper or the accountant should focus on matters regarding the financial
aspects of the company while the manager should perform the duties designated
to him/her.
3. We recommend that the client also use social media for their advertisements
since it is efficient and has low cost.
4. We recommend that the client should have a more effective way of recording
their transactions. An accounting system is not necessarily needed – Microsoft
Excel would do. It would be better if the company will use the double-
entry system so as to have a more reliable record of the financial status of the
company.
