Forward into the Unknown
As I take my leave of the
parishes in the upper valley, it
seems pretty clear to me that the
best way forward is probably
together, although what that
means is yet to be written by all
of you.
The reality is that circumstances
demand greater cooperation and
sharing of resources. We can no longer act as if we
can make it on our own or that the fate of the faith
communities around us have no impact on our
community. We must recognize that unless we plan
wisely, risk courageously, and live creatively, our
faith communities may not be here to serve the next
generation. But that's up to all of you.
Develop a viable vision and a plan. Be inspired and
live courageously into an unknown future. Dare to
put everything on the table aside from your faith in
God and your love for one another. Honor Christ in
every newcomer and guest. Finally, realize that
there is no growth and no life without change.

50/50 Monthly Raffle
After a month “vacation” the monthly 50-50 Raffle has
been resumed. See Christine
McGeachie for tickets. Drawing
will take place on the last Sunday
in October.

Due to the Steamtown Marathon the regular
Church Service will be held on Saturday,
October 8, 2016, at 5:30 pm (instead of on
the following Sunday).

Time and Talent you are able to pledge to our church

Diocesan Convention
The annual Diocesan Convention will be held on Friday,
October 7, 2016 and Saturday, October 8, 2016 in Reading, PA.
Mary Metzger and Judie Ferree are our delegates and will carry
the St. James - St George’s banner as the Pilgrimage continues.
 Upcoming Events For God and Country
Peacemeal – During this past spring and summer, three Boy Scouts in
Saturday, October 8, 2016 the Parish worked with Father Peter to earn their God and
4:30 pm Country badge.
Elm Park Methodist Church To build Community among the youth of the parish, they
Diocesan Convention organized and conducted a car wash. The money they raised
Friday, October 7, 2016 and was used to take the other youth of the parish to Lahey Fun
Saturday, October 8, 2016 Park for an evening of miniature golf and go-carts.
Reading, PA
As their Service project, they watered the straw bale garden planted by Judie
Vestry Meeting Ferree behind the church. The beans that this garden produced were served at
