 Key Competency

confident that I have the related key compantencies that will allow me to discharge the
responsibilities of this position, exceptionally well.

1. Knowledge of Labor Standards - having taken up Industrial Relations from the University of the
Philippines, I have in depth knowledge of the prevailing labor standards in the country.

2. Self Leadership - I am self motivated and would require less supervision, allowing me to
accomplish more tasks.

3. Related Experieance - handling all the facets of Human Resources Management in our
company, I have a clear idea of the requirements of the position.

4. Analytical Ability - with my exposure in graduate studies, I was able to develop further my
analytical ability, enabling me to decide on issues more accurately.

5. Ability to work in team environment - my course work for my MBA at the DLSU enabled me to
develop my ability to work in a team setting which is a key success factor in the corporate
setting.

 Best and failure

One recent instance where I experienced failure despite the fact that I gave it my best effort is
my recent failure to qualify for an academic honor for my MBA at the DLSU Graduate School of
Business. Initially, I aspired to be admitted to the prestigious graduate school of DLSU;
fortunately, I was admitted with my entrance exam results enabling me to be exmpted from
taking sseveral subjects. After several semesters of being part of the Universitty’s Dean’s Honor
List, I realized that I may be able to qualify for an academic honor. I pursued my goal but
however failed to meet the required GWA by a fraction of a point (.033).
One thing I learned from the experience is that, one should pursue his/her goal right from the
opening bell up until one reaches the finish line. In my case, I gave it good run from the middle
of the course and gave it a strong finishing. However, because I was not pursuing it hard enough
from the beginning, I failed by a very heart breaking mark.

 Describe a time when your work is heavy and how you handled it.

The heaviest work load I experienced was back in Jan. to April of the year 2007.It was a time
when I needed to attend to my work as H.R. and Business Development Officer for our family
business, which is a medium sized school in Malolos City, while at the same time attending to
the completion of the multi-million construction project which is part of our school's
development agenda. During this period, I was also attending graduate studies at DLSU for my
MBA. Despite, these many tasks, I managed to handle my responsibilities exceptionally well. One
is by carefully planning my daily activities so that no time will be wasted, and second is by
coming up with deadlines on when I need to finish certain tasks.

 Important decision in the absence of boss

One important decision I made in the absence of my boss is concerning the contract with one of
our company’s suppliers, a publishing house to be more particular. I made the decision of
entering into a contract and orderin some books with them since such facet of our operations is
within my authority and that my boss, usually just makes some clarifications about the
negotiation details. I made the decision because it entails urgency, which in this case, the need
to replace a book which was found out to have some printing errors, considering that the school
opening will start in less than a week and the delivery of the replacement books would be very
crucial.

Later on, I discussed the decision with the management committee and they approved the
action I taken.

 Project

The most recent major project I handled was the construction of the new school building for the
school that I am currently working with. The school is managed by our family owned corporation
andlocated in the City of Malolos where I work as the Human Resources and Planning Manager.
In 2007, during the school’s fifth year of operations, management engaged in an ambitious
project of putting up a three-storey school building complete with all the world class amenities
that will allow the school to accomodate more students and achieve its strategic objectives.

I headed the project and was significantly involved in the bidding and negotiation with the
contractors and suppliers while at the same time in-charge of filling up the teaching and non-
teaching positions needed so that the school can operate efficiently. I also needed to revise
operational procedures in order for it to be more relevant considering the major changes in the
school.

Fortunately, I was able to deliver the project on time, complete with the needed manpower. I
was able to achieve this despite that fact that I was also attending my MBA studies at DLSU.
