Addendum #1: Describe how your organization performed the services agreed to in the Decentralization

contract.

The Northport Symphony Orchestra had a successful 2019 performance season. We gave performances that
featured many unique opportunities for our audience and musicians.

Two of our concerts featured world-class female soloists, which met our goal of championing women in music
in a time when women are seen less and less as soloists with major symphony orchestras throughout the
world. Both Sara Daneshpour and Kinga Augustyn gave memorable performances that audiences gave rave
reviews. Additionally, we were able to perform music from many lesser-known composers. Our Spring
Concert featured the music of Central and Eastern European composers from the Czech Republic and
Poland. We were also able to host our first-ever solo recital, featuring pianist Reed Tetzloff.

We continued our community performance series with a concert at Carillon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
and several open rehearsal visits to the Paumanack Village apartment complex.

Addendum #2: How did your project fill an artistic need in the community? How did the community support
the project?

Classical music in today’s world is believed to be a dying art. Something that fewer and fewer people are
willing to accept into their lives, as the age of the audience rises and many other forms of entertainment have
become available to them. A symphony orchestra, such as ours, provides the community access to a cultural
experience not normally a part of people’s everyday lives. They are able to experience music that is, often,
hundreds of years old, written by some of the great masters of the art form, and in a forum that is close to
home. As a result, we’ve been able to entertain an audience of dedicated music-lovers, who have also been
willing to bring their friends and family to our performances, helping to grow the classical music audience and
help to cultivate the next generation of music lovers.

We are also able to provide an outlet for people who may have spent their lives playing a musical instrument.
There are scant few opportunities for people to take their love of making music into a social space. Our
orchestra is able to give musicians the ability to interact with other like-minded individuals in the world of
classical music.

Addendum #3: Describe your outreach efforts to under-served/minority populations.

Being a community orchestra, we serve all members of the Long Island community that have the ability to see
our performances. However, not everyone has easy access to us. That is why we continued our relationship
with Carillon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Huntington. We were able to provide an afternoon
performance for the residents of Carillon, who are unable to travel to our concert venues, bringing music
directly to them.

We also continued our relationship with Paumanack Village in Greenlawn, who provides low income senior
care and housing. Our open rehearsals, where residents are able to watch the orchestra rehearse for an
upcoming concert, are always well-attended and met with great interest and joy by all.

Addendum #4: Describe how you publicized the funded project. Attach samples.

Our three concert performances were publicized through printed flyers, social media posts on Facebook and
Instagram, as well as announcements on radio station WSHU. Our concerts were also publicized through
email newsletters to subscribers of the orchestra’s e-newsletter. Additionally, we printed postcards, which
listed our entire concert season, and distributed those postcards to multiple libraries, through traditional
“snail” mail, and shared by our members to friends, family, and acquaintances in their daily interactions.

Addendum #5: Provide a budget breakdown of the project which reflects expenses and income. Make sure
to provide any cancelled checks and/or receipts.

Addendum #6: Please provide images for your funded projects.
