 The topic has attracted a lot of attention all
over Europe: from 12 countries at the
proposal stage to 30 countries today
 Via their activities over the 4 years (until
now)
 8 meetings,
 2 Training Schools,
 30 STSMs
 2 ITC Conference Grants

 Three priorities for the current and next Framework
Programme for Research and Innovation:
1. Promoting and spreading excellence,
2. Fostering interdisciplinary research for breakthrough
science,
3. Empowering and retaining young researchers and
innovators
 Implying a need to increase the budget to at least EUR
600 million (EUR 85,7 million per year), enabling initiating
up to 75 new COST Actions per call (currently 30-35
Actions per call)
