a. Prepare an SPSS Statistics data file using the SPSS Statistics Data Editor 3-4

complete with all variable definitions (variable name, variable type,

width, decimals, label, values, missing, columns, align, measure, and role).

b. Run a frequency count of all the variables. 5-14

c. Create a composite mean variable for each source of 15-16

INTENTION TO LEAVE and compute the mean and standard deviation
of these 4 composite variables.

d. Using the composite mean variable found in (d), run an exploratory data 17-34
analysis by (i) Gender and (ii) Qualification. Describe the exploratory data
analysis output.

e. Run a reliability analysis to determine the internal consistency of the scale 35-36
items for each dimension of INTENTION TO LEAVE. Interpret the reliability
output.

c) Create a composite mean variable for each source of INTENTION TO LEAVE and compute
the mean and standard deviation of these 4 composite variables.

Follow this path to create composite mean variables

Transform -> Compute variables -> give new name to “Target Variable” -> Select MEAN
function and give relevant column numbers to calculate mean. Ex: MEAN (q19, q20, q21, q22,
q23, q24)
16

Follow this path to get mean and standard deviation of created composite mean variables
Analyze-> Descriptive Statistics -> Descriptive -> select new variables-> go to ‘options’ and
select mean and std. deviation press okay.
