Introduction
This document provides useful information about Ax-Series Print Head Variants & Option
Packs including photography, part numbers, descriptions, technical data and fitting.
Different Ax-Series Print Head Variants are recommended for different installation
applications.
Option Packs
Ax-Series Option Packs provide a flexible way to upgrade the performance of an Ax-Series
printer.
All Ax-Series Option Packs are available as a factory configured (pre-installed option) or as a
field fit upgrade kit.
Note: This is a working document and will be continuously updated. The newest version of

The Positive Air Pump can be ordered and fitted by an engineer on site, or it can be
specified as factory fitted.

• Internal Operating Pressure: 2bar.
• Acoustic Noise Level: Not more than

Requirements -
• Electrical: 24Vdc (Supplied by printer).
• Input Air: Air Purity Classes ISO 8573-1:2010 [X(15):4:4] or above 5-8bar (70-
116psi).
The Air Driver Air Dryer is also required for specific ink
types. Consult the latest Ax-Series Configuration Chart
for more details.

How to Configure?
The extended raster pack can be pre-installed onto the printer when shipped from the
factory.
The pack can also be ordered separately to enable this feature set on an installed printer. In
this case a USB stick is provided. When the USB is inserted into the printer, the pack can be
enabled.
Packs can also be transferred between printers.

Label segmentation Segmentation allows different areas of the label to use different text
feature: formats, stroke pitches and print heights.
A typical use of this feature is illustrated below, where an MRC is
printed followed by human readable text.
How to Configure?
The professional printing pack can be pre-installed onto the printer when shipped from the
factory. The pack can also be ordered separately, to enable this feature set on an installed
printer. In this case a USB stick is provided. When the USB is inserted into the printer, the
pack can be enabled. Packs can also be transferred between printers.
The functionality provided by the Operator Assistance Pack is designed to automate label
configuration prior to starting the production run. It is not intended as an on the fly
solution, populating and selecting labels during a production run.
How to Configure?
The provided USB stick within the operator assistance pack will unlock a wizard that will
guide the user through configuration of the required solution. The hand scanner plugs into
the USB socket on the printer.
The pack can also be ordered separately, to enable this feature set on an installed printer. In
this case a USB stick is provided. When the USB is inserted into the printer, the pack can be
enabled.
Prerequisites
A trained engineer is required to install this pack in the field.
An external USB socket is also available as part of (Comms Pack Type 5 - EPT022075SP),
sold separately.
New software features are also enabled to provide features that manage the power and jet
on periods of the printer.
How to Configure?
The green pack can be pre-installed onto the printer when shipped from the factory.
Alternatively, the green pack can be ordered to fit on site. The software features are
enabled via USB key.
