Language of the ancestors for the survival of future

Language is the symbol of people’s identity, vectors of values, ways of life and expressions of their
connections with earth and hence is crucial for survival. Our indigenous ancestral languages provides
ancient practices and knowledge in the field of agriculture, manufacturing , medicine , astronomy
and more. It is a social product , springing up with the first community, developing with the
increasing needs of culture and civilization , and disappearing when society disappears . Thus ,
language happens to be an index of growth in the society

Language has been transforming vehicle developed to overcome initially the shackles of
communication in the ancient times and further evolved as medium to express thoughts and views
which helped to unite people of similar interests and raise their combined voices for the benefit for
their own as well as society’s benefit and has now become a tool that has surpassed all geographical
.political and social barriers .

The contemporary era has witnessed a seismic shift begot technological advancement ,urbanisation
and liberalisation in all walks of life especially in the ethics and cultures around the world. The
multitude of the influence of modernisation has impeded the value of native cultures and languages
adopted by our ancestors. The native languages which were once considered the pride of ancestors
not only helped them to navigate their way through difficult times but also voice their ideas,
emotions and thoughts to revolutionize their own lives .The language once used to disseminate
information is now itself gradually being confined within the hard paper books. Language is the
continuum on which culture rests thus playing a pivotal role in the spiritual , mental and physical
health and well being of each individual as well as community .In an attempt of catching up with
western and modern society we are drifting away from our ancestral roots . Language is what made
the growth of civilization .

And with these advancements hundreds of ancestral languages have gone to some hidden place
,taking with them the culture, traditions , knowledge depriving the millennial generation from some
important values from the past . The experiences of our ancestors and and how they used language
as a vessel for upliftment of society .

Even in harsh times when we were enslaved by the wickedness of the shrewd British it was through
dialogue that word of ‘Swatantra Bharat’ disseminated throughout the country marshalling a wave
of revolutions all around the country through the united strength of people .It is through this that
we survived the colonial era which has tried to bring our ancestors on their knees and squash them
beneath the weight of injustice.

It is therefore of utmost importance to revitalize the lost languages and encourage the preservation
of the knowledge and wisdom of our ancestors as they will provide us with an enlightening path to
follow. Language has helped foster a sense of belonging and will continue to do so and serve as a
constant reminder of the hardships and challenges that had been overcome in the past. Language is
that one thing that will help one stay in touch with their roots and serve as a key to all the prisons
that restrict them .
