When is it used?
Simple past is used to talk about past things that have been finished, and that were done at a specific time in the
past.
Como Preguntamos
To form the questions in the simple past, the word did is placed in front of the person accompanying the main verb, for
example:
Did is the past of do and does (which are used to form the questions of the present).
Unlike the questions in the present, there is no different way for he, she or it, so did is used for all people, for example:
Did I eat? ¿Comí?
P RE G UNT AS NE G AT I V AS E N P AS ADO E N I NG LE S
¿No trabajaste?
Didn’t you work?
¿No vinieron?
Didn’t they come?
¿Por qué él no habló contigo?
Why didn’t he speak with you?
¿Por qué él no habló contigo?
Why didn’t he speak with you?
ejemplo:
No trabajé.
I didn’t work.
No vinieron.
They didn’t come.
Él no habló conmigo.
He didn’t speak with me.
No llovió ayer.
It didn’t rain yesterday.

Verbos (regulares e irregulares)
ejemplo, seem / seem, laugh / laughed, look / looked).
hurry/hurried, clarify/clarified).
play/played, enjoy/enjoyed).
