VIENNA: Four people were seriously injured in two knife attacks in one district
of the Austrian capital Vienna on Wednesday evening but any motive or
connection between the assaults was unclear, a police spokesman said.

The stabbings - the first of which took place at 7:45 p.m. (1845 GMT),
occurred in Vienna’s Second District, which includes the famous Prater park as
well as the Praterstern transport hub. It also houses much of Vienna’s small
Jewish community.

“A man attacked a family - a father, a mother and their 17-year-old

daughter - with a knife. The three people were seriously injured and their lives
are in danger,” the spokesman said.

“And half an hour later there was another attack ... at Praterstern and here a
person was also seriously injured and their life is in danger. We do not know to
what extent there is a connection here and any motive remains unclear,” he
said.

Asked what was known about an assailant, he added: “Absolutely nothing. We

know we are looking for a man.”

KUALA LUMPUR: Tourists from China coming into Malaysia still need to
register despite not needing to apply for tourist visa, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad
Zahid Hamidi said.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the special requirement was sought by
China to ensure its citizens inside Malaysia abide by the stated duration of stay.

"We have implemented this but their government asked for their citizens' entry
into Malaysia be registered.

"The authorities in China are informed as their citizens only have a 15-day visa.

"After that period expires, they need to go back to their country of origin," he
said in reply to a question from Fong Kui Lun (DAP-Bukit Bintang) on whether
the government had plans to exempt the visa for tourists from China.

Zahid said the Chinese embassy in Malaysia was also taking proactive measures
this year with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to draw at least three
million tourists to Malaysia.

Earlier, Zahid said Malaysia had issued 734,364 electronic visas or e-visas
introduced for 10 countries on May 1 last year.

He said the facility enabled foreign nationals to apply for the visa to enter
Malaysia without having to go to the respective Malaysian missions.

Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said Malaysia had the collaboration of
Interpol and Aseanapol in monitoring the use of these e-visas.

“We will also implement the Advance Passenger Screening System (APSS)
which will further strengthen control and ensure that there is no compromise in
terms of the security aspects,” he said when replying to a question from Datuk
Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (BN-Lenggong) on Malaysia’s initiative to facilitate
the visa application to draw more tourists, especially from China and India, in
conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2020. — Reporting by : Syed Umar Ariff;

Penang Airport court tomorrow.

By MOHAMED BASYIR - March 7, 2018 @ 10:41pm

BAYAN LEPAS: A fight broke out between a taxi driver and a Grab driver at
the Penang International Airport here yesterday.

In the 3.50pm incident, a 52-year-old taxi driver was said to have made a
sudden turn which forced a 30-year-old Grab driver to slam on his emergency
brakes near the departure hall of the airport.

A scuffle then broke out between the two before passers-by intervened to stop
them from fighting.

However, the incident did not end there. The drivers drove some distance away
and stopped by the roadside to engage in a fist fight.

Motorists broke up the fight.

The taxi driver had a broken nail while the Grab driver needed three stitches on
his left cheek.

Both received treatment at Balik Pulau Hospital.

Southwest district police chief Superintendent A. Anbalagan said that both of

them would be charged at the Balik Pulau magistrates court tomorrow.

The case is being investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code for
