We are grateful to those who give of
their time and care to bring Holy
Communion to our parishioners who
cannot make it to church due to
sickness or infirmity. If you know of
anyone who would like to receive communion in their
home or while hospitalized at West Lincoln Hospital,

CWL NEWS
Haldimand Region Fall Conference, Wednesday
October 16th @ St. Martin of Tour Parish,
Smithville with Comedienne Pamela Appel. Born to
be on stage, Pamela loves to spread joy and laughter to
audiences far and wide. When is the last time you had a
big belly laugh? Homemade cabbage roll dinner at 6:30
p.m., doors open at 6:00 p.m. $10 at the door. Please
let Colleen or Piera know if you plan to attend.
BISHOPS VISIT TO OUR LADY OF HOLY
ROSARY SHRINE
Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Shrine, 4706 Miller Road,
Port Colborne welcomes Bishop Bergie on Thursday,

You received good things, but Lazarus received evil:
now he is comforted, while you are in agony. (Luke)
Christ calls us to open
our eyes to the poor and
needy at our own gates
and open our hearts to
welcome them with
compassion and honor.
The rich man of the
Gospel and the “worthless rich” of the prophet Amos
(today’s first reading) do no understand that the many
blessings we have received from God are given for us
to share – to share not out of a sense of obligation but as
a joyful opportunity to give thanks to God for his many
blessings to us.
In our busy-ness, in our need for “me time,” in our
pursuit of our own wants and expectations, we become
quite adept at shutting the world out, not seeing or
hearing the Lazaruses in our lives — and sometimes we
are the isolated Lazarus in need of love and support and
understanding.
Amassing large estates and building up profitable
stock portfolios are not the stuff that true legacies are
made of. We will be remembered not for what we
possess but for what we give; our lasting legacy will be
what we contribute to make our world a happier,
healthier place.

LIFE CHAIN
SUNDAY OCTOBER 6TH, 1:00-2:00 P.M.
On Sunday, October 6 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. we
plan to gather at the intersection of Main St and Christie
St in Grimsby to pray for an end to abortion. We will be
joining our prayers with thousands of people in 1600
locations across Canada and the United States who will
be forming Life Chains in their communities on the
same day!
We will pray silently and hold professionally-printed
signs provided at the site. This is a local witness
intended to generate thought and discussion within our
community and to demonstrate that abortion is not a
closed or settled issue in this country.
