REFLECTION

The first is all entitle “dear future generation sorry” is all about Prince Ea, activist
and inspirational spoken word artist, has done it again. Just in time for Earth Day, he
has launched one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen about mitigating climate
change -- in the first 48 hours; it already has over 29 million views. This apology to
future generations for the harm we have caused our planet has an incredibly profound
and poignant message that we should all pay attention to.
The purpose of the video is to raise awareness about the alarming rates of
deforestation and the reckless destruction of our environment for which we are ALL
responsible. Most importantly, this video serves as a platform to inspire citizens of the
world to take IMMEDIATE action to stop climate change. How? by protecting threatened
forests through the Stand for Trees campaign.
Stand for Trees is an online initiative created by the amazing environmental
NGO Code REDD. It offers a tangible way for the general public to take direct action to
combat climate change through crowd-funding the protection of threatened forests.

The second video entitled “unbroken ground” there’s something so wasteful

about it. How much fossil fuel was needed to get that single apple into my hands? It

probably wouldn’t be too difficult to guesstimate, but I don’t have the patience for that.

The bottom line is the apple is a microcosm of food production in general – wasteful,

somewhat unnatural, and consumer driven with little regard for the broader impact on

the environment. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m as guilty as any. But is there a better

way?

The folks at Patagonia Provisions certainly think so. An offshoot of the outdoor

apparel giant, Patagonia Provisions has been in the business of sustainably produced

food since 2013. Apparently they are also in the business of supporting film projects,

too.

Unbroken Ground is the most recent directorial effort of surfer Chris Malloy,

presented by Patagonia Provisions. It’s an attempt not only to highlight some of the

great chasms in modern food production, but to offer a potential solution.

And the last video entitled “dry hope” is all about venture of Environmental
Cowboy Khory Hancock. The documentary explores the stories and successes of
farmers across NSW and Queensland that are using regenerative farming practices. So
his agricultural productivity, his ecological productivity was all and also this video is all
about how to conserve the soil.

Nature is very important because if there was no nature we wouldn't be alive.

Especially trees, they give us the oxygen to live and breathe. Nature is also important
because we have comfortable clothes, right? Some of your own clothes are made out of
animal.

We need to look at the value of nature in economic and social terms to help
us better understand the full implications of the choices we make. Instead of making
decisions based on short-term financial interests, we can look at the longer-term
benefits for people and the economy and of course nature itself. Using this
argument, we’re persuading governments and businesses to take better care of the
natural world, so that it can continue to sustain us all into the future.

We are dependent on Nature for our survival, so for our needs we must protect
Nature. Nature or more precisely the biosphere and the atmosphere provide all our
needs. Rapid urbanization has created a disconnect among some humans and the
natural world. This prevents us from realizing that the real world is in Nature.
Sunlight is converted into chemical energy by green plants. Green plants produce and
store in excess of their needs. Animals eat the stored food and get energy from green
plants. Humans are animals with more abilities than most other animals. This extra
ability has been used to extract benefits from nature. However the rate at which we are
extracting benefits is greater than the rate at which Nature can replenish itself.
This tilt will mean that we will reach a tipping point and doom ourselves to destruction.
To avoid this we must protect Nature.

For me as the product of current generation; I myself is ashamed that I can call it
somewhat a destruction, but after I hear the words of the people who was trying their
best to preserve and promote the best ways to conserve it, I myself then realized.
Realize that; Is it really that hard or impossible for us to take care of nature? Is it really
that hard to take care of the species that living there? And Is it really that hard to take
care of the land or the soil that we ravage to turn into an industrial community? For me
it's not that hard and impossible is out of question, it is just people are irresponsible and
not thinking of what's ahead of them or they're not thinking for the future to come.

We need to be responsible of what we are doing in the nature; we must think first
what are the disadvantage and consequence if we abuse the nature because our life is
depending to the resources that found in the nature in order to us to survive.
