A blessed (time of the day) everyone, for today we will have a short

discussion about the church’s common misconceptions.

Misconception means misinterpretation of a view or an opinion that is

incorrect because it is based on faulty thinking or understanding. Mga
beliefs na pinapaniwalaan ng maraming tao but somehow it is
considered distorted.

1.The Church is a proximate place.

Kapag naririnig yung word na church the first thing that comes to other
people’s mind is that it is a building in a specific location. (proximate
means closest in relationship or nearly accurate). We are stucked on
the thought na kapag umalis na tayo sa center nito then that’s when
we leave the church.
We, people are the church itself, it isn’t a mere building. So this only
means that as you go you take the church with you -- to your office,
your homes, your schools, your barber, your gym, everywhere you go.
It is not just a building, it is a fortress inside you.

2. Going to Church is a once-a-week event.

Still, tons of people think that church is just an event we attend once a
week to fulfill a cultural responsibility. (When we say cultural duty it is
for everyone in the society because culture is the sum of the roads that
have walked together, the obstacles and the gains that the society has
been overcome.)
It is more than that. Hindi lang tayo nakaupo doon for like 1-2 hours
para lang makinig sa sasabihin ni Father, we do need to listen but
syempre hindi sapat ang pinakikinggan mo. You work from it, you
apply what you learned. Open siya sa lahat ng tao, 24 hours a day and
seven days in a week. Church is built on Spirit-empowered and grace-
filled relationships that are entered on Christ. Not on organizations and
events.
3. If you’re not perfect, then you can’t be accepted into the church.
This is a huge problem that occurs in churches today. Lahat tayo ay
sinners saved by His sincere and wonderful grace. Realistically talking,
NO ONE WILL EVER BE SINLESS. Even the nicest people you know,
nakakagawa sila ng kasalanan, maliit man o malaki. Hindi din naman
kasi lahat nagsstrive not to commit a sin. We can’t help it tho. But that
doesn’t mean na hindi dapat natin tanggapin yung mga taong mas
nahihirapan i-improve yung sarili nila sa aspect na to. If may kilos-loob
or will ang isang tao na magbago then who are we to judge? Diyos ka
ba para ishut ang pinto ng church para sa mga taong gustong
magbago, you are no better if you do that. Even God is willing to accept
them.

4. The Priests defines the Church.

Habang tumatagal the church has more and more become defined by
the priests and people follow the words that they want to as they hear
it from them. They are only the sheep or the steward na inappoint ni
God to lead and teach His words or the Body of Christ. He is the only
one who can define the church. We are His bride and we are ought to
always be there for Him. Siya ang puno sa lahat ng bagay, the head of
the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,
that in all things He may have the preeminence.
