WholeWorldBand: Digital Recording Studio

1. Identify some of the challenges associated with building an information system

infrastructure to support this new service. Would cloud computing be an

appropriate solution to address these changes? Why or why not?

Some of the challenges that are associated with building an information system

infrastructure to support WholeWorldBand are, hardware, software, and network. When it comes

to the hardware that is required, a server would need to be built to be able to handle the constant

download and upload of the music that is being recorded or edited. When selecting a processer

for this server I would choose an Intel Xeon series processer. This is because these processors

are built to for cloud support and back up. When someone is editing music, the data can be saved

on the cloud, so it is backed up and is not lost. When it comes to software, the server would have

to be running either windows or mac OS server. They would also need to have database

management system software built to handle their needs of storing the music data. Our text book

says, “A group of programs used to access and manage a database as well as provide and

interfaced between the database and its users and other application programs” (Stair & Reynolds,

2018). Lastly, the network would have to handle the ins and outs of data transfer in highspeed. I

would recommend a fiber optic line this would allow the data to be transferred back and forth at

high speeds so there won’t be any interrupted.

When it comes to the question, would cloud computing be an appropriate solution to

address these changes? Our text book says, “Cloud computing is a computing environment

where software and storage are provided as an Internet service and are accessed with a Web

browser” (Stair & Reynolds, 2018, p. 112). If WholeWorldBand used a cloud service, they could

avoid the huge upfront cost of building their own server. The huge cost of the server could be an

investment in the long run, but the cloud service would cover all the hardware and maintenance

from the server. For example, “Cloud computing offers many advantages to businesses. With

cloud computing, organizations can avoid large, up-front investments in hardware as well as the

on going investment in the resources that would be required to manage the hardware” (Stair &

Reynolds, 2018, p. 198) This way WholeWorldBand can focus on creating music and tend to

their customers needs.

2. Would WholeWorldBand be likely to employ SQL, NoSQL, or a mix of both kinds

of databases? Explain your answer.

When it comes to what server type WholeWorldBand should choose to run in their

server. I believe they should use a mix of SQL and NoSQL, because they offer a mixture of

distinctive features. The SQL data base offers the ability of when data is being updated to the

server it cannot be edited until the data is uploaded completely. Or text book says, “SQL

databases rely upon concurrency control by locking database records to ensure that other

transactions do not modify the database until the first transactions succeeds or fails” (Stair &

Reynolds, 2018). When it comes to NoSQL servers, these benefit by allowing them to spread the

data among multiple servers so the data can be accessed faster. Our text book says, “A major

advantage of NoSQL databases is the ability to spread data over multiple servers so that each

server contains only a subject of the total data” (Stair & Reynolds, 2018, p. 142). This is why

both server types can benefit WholeWorldBand for their company and its customers.

Terms of Use, summarize these measures outlined to protect the unauthorized use of

copyrighted material. Do you think these measures are adequate? Why or Why not?

When it comes to protected and unauthorized use of copyrighted materials within

WholeWorldBand program. The unauthorized use of material that is not your own “including by

way of reproduction, distribution, modification, adaptation, sample, public display, public

performance, preparation of derivative works, making available or otherwise communicating to

the public via the Platform” (WholeWorldBand:Terms of use. Pg 13). This may cause a violation

of the owners’ rights and “may” cause a termination of your account and possibility criminal

prosecution by owner. WholeWorldBand also has the rights to remove any content they believe

to be infringing without anyone’s notices. They also have the right to terminate anyone’s account

with out notice or for any specific reason.
