Climate Change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. From
shifting weather patterns that threaten food production, to rising sea levels that increase
the risk of catastrophic flooding, the impacts of climate change are global in scope and
unprecedented in scale. Now it is high time that we start doing something towards it.

Citizen Science – An umbrella term that caps several activities to map the current status
of our biodiversity and the environmental issues that are impacting them. This helps us
to study the intricate conditions that butterflies deem sustainable, which in the long run
lays the foundation for a conservation action plan.

Across the world, conservation monitoring programmes rely majorly on user- fed data
by enthusiasts and volunteers. So, there is a requirement of more and more active
volunteering which will help us to collect more data and monitor the species more

These projects are now getting more ambitious and diverse, and at the same time
challenging also. Now not only flora and fauna but water borne diseases and flood
models are also immensely used to map species or providing possible solutions for the
recurrent problems.

This article can be analyzed in three folds.

Article starts with petrifying truth of climate change and its factors including erratic
weather events, global warming, massive flora and fauna extinctions, and natural
habitats. It then tells about citizen science which is an excellent step towards
sustainability and protection of environment. As more number of active participants will
lead towards the collection of more and more data which can help us to study those
more closely so as to make plans for them accordingly.

Then article talks about the increasing volunteering towards citizen sciences and its
diversity, which also enhances the quality of decision making. Citizen Science is slowly
becoming one of the largest communities in the world for conservatism. The idea is
simply to involve as many people as possible so as to maximize the amount of data.
Article then moved to giving example of citizen sciences of butterflies from Delhi NCR
as to how they are documented and monitored seasonally like moth is observed in
September. Species count is done in varied habitats across the city and suburbs.

 The impacts of climate change should be elaborated in detail.
 Some more examples of diverse fields Citizen Sciences can be discussed.
 Too optimistic approach in the end.
 Consequences of climate change should be elaborated.
