Information about the class:
There are 23 learners in the class. They are 12 years old. They have a 2-hour lesson every week.
Because we haven’t got a course book yet, I decided to bring my own material.
Lesson: Will/Won’t for predictions
Content: Grammar: verb will/ won’t for predictions; vocabulary – jobs and fruit/vegetables;
Communication: making predictions
Time: 50 minutes
Type of lesson: Introducing new material
Methods and techniques:
a) main method: Communicative Approach
b) techniques: presentation, conversation, explanation, brainstorming, gap-filling, game
Skills developed: listening, speaking, reading
Main aim:
By the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to express predictions using will and won’t.
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. use will in order to express predictions;
2. form affirmative, interrogative and negative statements using will /won’t ;
3. use the vocabulary in sentences;
4. make the Ss confident in the ability to use the language;
5. create interest in the topic;
6. use English while playing.
Personal aim:
To reduce TTT (teacher talking time) in whole class activities and provide more learner interaction.
Materials: whiteboard, markers, handouts, playing cards, images.
Anticipated difficulties with tasks:
Learners will not be able to remember the words I want to use in the games.
Solutions:
We will have a brainstorming before the activity.
