0 Post Speaking Activity

In Post Stage, 30 minutes is allocated for production and the remaining 5 minutes is used for
closure. During production stage, students will perform their role-play in front of the
classroom. Once every group had perform their role-play, students will vote for the best group
based on the criteria given. Three criterion to vote is according to the expressions used in the
dialogue, creativity of role-play and appropriateness of the dialogue with the chosen situation
card. Teacher will distributes star stickers to each group for the students use later on. However,
each group can only vote twice. Students will paste the star stickers on the whiteboard. Finally,
the teacher will do a sharing session with students to know their reason of voting for those
particular groups.

During production stage, group work is focused among the students because according
to Harmer, J. (2007) group work is often used in large classes to give students more chances to
interact and large group compromises have to be reached between group and the individuals
within it. Furthermore, Jeremy Harmer also said that group work foster cooperative activity
and give students’ chances for independence.

During closure, teacher will recap the lesson using Padlet. Teacher will displays
questions on the projector which are share one expression of taking a guest’s reservation, share
one expression of checking in a guest, share one expression of checking out a guest, and why
did you decide on a career in hospitality. Teacher will incorporate the use of technology by
using Padlet during lesson. The rationale of using technology can be explain from Dudeney &
Hocky(2008) where younger learners are growing with technology and the use of technology
is a way to bring the outside world into the classroom. Students will need to fill in their answers
in Padlet. According to Dallat, J. (2013), this is considered as cognitive closure as both students
and teacher summarise and the teacher synthesis of main points and checking that they have
been understood.

During extended activity, teacher will distributes a sample dialogue with correct
expression to use in check-in and check-out a guest situations as a note to students. Students
paste the note in their booklet.
