CHAPTER I
Introduction
People from some countries in Southeast Asia were only accustomed to drinking
coffee, soda, juice ice teas and hot tea (Day Translations, 2013). Teas, and its family
bubble teas, has been around for decades in various forms. But in today’s everyday
living, milk tea has been a trend’s rise from hype to staple in the recent years of the
country. It’s very popular because it is very delicious, the taste becomes so special when

flavors and unique characters. There are many types of milk tea and the most famous one,
in the Vietnam, is what is known as Bubble tea or Pearl milk tea that is found in 1980s

demand of milk tea consumers, different milk tea shops have been established in the
different places in the country. Now that the teas are served in different and more
creative, people are surely finding themselves enjoying regular serving of this kind of
drink. In every individual in different age bracket have been attracted in the milk tea
industry.
Filipinos are more of coffee drinkers than tea drinkers but milk tea successfully
captured the attention of the young generation. Tea consumption driven by growing

health consciousness among middle and higher income consumers. Compared to coffee
and “other” hot drinks, Filipinos perceived that drinking tea is beneficial to the body.

provides a number of health benefits. It contains flavonoids which are naturally occurring

curriculum/program, tracks and strands at Ilocos Norte National High School with the
