Learning Objectives:
1. The course aims to enable the students to describe the terminology, concepts and
principles within the retail environment.
2. The course is designed to formulate a comprehensive learning process to the students
in the areas of Merchandise Management, Store Operations, Location Planning, SCM,
Visual Merchandise, Retail Customer and Technology in Retail.
3. The course aims to explain to the students the opportunities in retail sector and to
identify the key issues facing retailers.
Learning Outcomes ( LO ):
LO 1. At the end of the course, the student will be able to explain the terminology,
concepts and principles within the retail environment.
LO 2.The student will be able to identify the importance of Merchandise
Management, Store Operations, Location Planning, SCM, Visual Merchandise and
Technology in Retail.
LO 3. The course will enable the students to assess the opportunities in retail sector
and identify with the key issues facing retailers.

Method of evaluation:
The student groups are evaluated based on all the activities they have worked on for the mock
store along with the final look of their store, within the main theme. The various activities
they would be evaluated on are store design, merchandise planning, pricing, inventory
management, visual merchandising, sales & operation.
