Lesson 4: Conducting pre-training assessment of participants.

Objective of Session To assess participants understanding of
gender, human rights and women’s rights.

Project Background:
The purpose of this project was to conduct a gender equality workshop for awareness
and training of participants. This training is composed of different activities, multimedia
presentations and energizers and real life examples.

Review Workshop
FLI along with EDFA organized Gender Equality Workshop in Booni Chitral.
Rubina Qadir, Islamabad Representative EDFA, participated in the event as a facilitator.
The purpose of this workshop was to make them aware about gender difference, gender
equality and equity, gender discrimination and how to avoid gender conflicts and role of
genders in different cultures.

The workshop embarked with the recitation of Holy Quran. About 18 participants were
participated including the facilitators of the workshop and FLI members.

Over all objectives of the Workshop


1. Know the difference between sex and gender and be able to define both terms.
2. Understand how gender roles and gender stereotypes affect their lives and the
lives of children.
3. Effective advocacy and networking techniques to promote gender equality

Proceeding
Workshop embarked with a recitation of Holy Quran followed by a round of
introduction. FLI along with the Facilitators gave a warm welcome to all the participants.
Mr. Naseem, Facilitator Forum for Language Initiatives welcomed the participants and
explained that FLI organized this event with support of EDFA, Islamabad Representative.
EDFA is a platform of volunteers working for career counseling, social awareness,
volunteer work, awareness campaigns and different activities in Awi, Booni Chitral.
Here after madam Bushra, Monitoring Evaluation and Learning officer shared the
workshop objectives and goals with the participants. .

Conclusion
The participants were positive in their feedback; the workshop met its objectives.
Participants were encouraged to participate in such workshops from which they can
benefit themselves as well as their society.
