I.

Objectives

At the end of the lesson the student should be able to:

a. Identify the different perennial problem/Philosophical question of man.


b. Write their own understanding, express their own thoughts about the philosophical
questions and compare it with their classmates.
c. Internalize the importance of philosophy in their development as a person.

II. Content

a. Subject matter: The Perennial Problem: Man

B. Motivation

 The students are going to watch the video I have prepared. In the video there are riddles
that each group must answer.

C. Presentation of the lesson.

 The teacher will ask a question, in your own idea what is the meaning of Philosophy and
how does it work?
 The teacher will discuss the Perennial problem / the philosophical questions one by one.
D. Discussion

 What is philosophy?

At its simplest, philosophy (from the Greek or phílosophía, meaning ‘the love of wisdom’)
is the study of knowledge, or "thinking about thinking", although the breadth of what it
covers is perhaps best illustrated by a selection of other alternative

 The three great men of the Greek Classical Philosophy

 Socrates
 Plato
 Aristotle

 The Perennial problem: man.

 All throughout the ages every human being at one time or another or often in his
lifetime, whenever he enters into himself and reflects on his life must have asked:
himself some questions such as:

What sort of thing am I?


Where do I come from?
Whereto am I going?
What is my future and destiny?
Why am I here?
What must I do to live well and happy?

E. Generalization

 Man means many things to many minds; and the proposed answers to these questions
are as varied as there are thinkers asking and answering their own questions.

 Can we say that we are a living philosopher after this lesson?

 As a student what can you do to live a well and happy life aside from finishing your
studies.

 And lastly, is philosophy important for our daily lives as per what we have done today?
