Training global citizens

AT University of Nottingham Malaysia, like
most universities, we have just gone through
the main registration period of the academic
cycle. At this time, I am always delighted to
say a few words to our new students and
welcome them to the university, tell them
something of its history and give them some
words of advice.
One piece of advice I invariably give is
that they need to differentiate themselves
from others when looking for a job after
graduation. There are many ways they can
do this: participate in corporate social
responsibility activities; enrol in our
Nottingham Advantage Award and make full
use of our career’s services.
I always say the one thing that will
differentiate them from others is if they take
the opportunity to study abroad during their other ways, including providing skills that the full duration of their studies or a shorter

Ethics and integrity

Governments, law enforcement agencies

The green revolution

LAST month, Greta Thunberg shook the
world with her speech at the United Nations
Climate Action Summit 2019. The long-
overdue green revolution is slowly taking
over the world and, thankfully, more people
are realising the urgency and importance of
protecting the environment and embracing
more eco-friendly ways of life by opting for
sustainable energy, development and
growth.
The global threat to the environment has
forced industries across the world to shift to
more sustainable means of production and
operation, especially in the fields of
engineering and architecture. To stay afloat
in this green revolution engulfing the world,
architecture and engineering companies are
innovating greener ways to develop new
ideas that would make the upcoming
projects come under sustainable
development.

What is green development?
