Temple park

The studio aims at developing Temple Park in the Mandvi, old city of Vadodara with an existing temple

Providing with residential space for the pujari of existing temple, hostels for the visitors, temple park for
conducting various ceremonies and rituals or celebrating festivals for future and various other necessary
spaces.

As a part of context, the temple is situated in the old city of Vadodara with the densely built
environment so giving the more free space ca provide a free multipurpose space to people in a dense
area. As the design started my basic concern was to provide large and attractive entrance and To give
more free space for rituals so to attract more and more people towards the temple.

THIS STUDIO IS TAKEN IN CONTEXT OF AMRITSAR, KEEPING IN MIND ITS LIFESTYLE,

TRADITION, CULTURE AND COMMUNITY. EXISTING SHOPS AND HOUSES ARE GIVEN TO
STUDENTS ALONG WITH ITS SURROUNDING CONTEXT AS SITES. THE PROGRAME IS GIVEN
ACCORDING TO THE LOCATION AND THE POTENTIAL OF THE PLACE.

THE STUDIO BASICALLY FOCUSES ON INSERTION INTO THE EXISTING FABRIC. ONE HAS TO
DESIGN SUCH AN INSERT THAT IS CONFINED TO THE GROUND LEVEL OF THE GIVEN SITE.
SITES ARE PICKED KEEPING IN MIND THAT THERE IS DOUBLE VOLUME ON THE GROUND
LEVEL WHICH IS A PROMINENT FEATURE IN AMRITSARI HOUSES.

THUS, STUDENTS ARE PROVIDED WITH AN OPPURTUNITY TO ADD INTERMEDIATE LEVELS.

MEZZANINES AND SEMI BASEMENTS ARE SOME EXAMPLES THAT CAN BE WORKED UPON IN
THESE TYPES OF VOLUMES.

KEEPING IN MIND THE AMRITSARI CONTEXT AND AMRITSARI CULTURE AND USING
MODERN MATERILS AND TECHNIQUES THIS STUDIO HAS TO WORKED ON.
:

During the day time the no of customers are fluctuating in the early morning from 7am
to 10 am. That is breakfast time the customers are increased so to accommodate more
no of people planning is done accordingly. After 11pm as the site is near to the golden
temple as the langar is going the customer decreases and they come in groups a
restaurant type sitting is given accordingly. The mezzanine level remains the same
throughout the day as is it provides conditioned area. The zoning is simple to achieve
mare space to accommodate customer’s .the right end of vertical necessary services
the back part is for the kitchen and front for dinning.
In the section part the main concern was to provide a mezzanine floor with giving
proper room and height in addition with providing access to the first floor and
mezzanine individually.

The mezzanine floor is modernly constructed with precast floors and closed through
glass to provide view and light hanging independent on the existing walls and columns

The designing of vertical circulation was crucial and as the main element of design, two
individual staircase as to be provide one for accessing first floor and second to access
mezzanine. The first floor should be of permanent nature. Under the first floor aces a
toilet has been provided according to optimum anthro. The mezzanine staircase should
of light nature so steel and plywood has been used

Sem 4

As a part of initiative taken by government ‘education for all’ primary schools are constructed all around
the country across every village. The aim of the project is to design a play school within the site of the
primary and accommodate around 120 children of age 1 year to 6 years. Also the play school should be
run as day school to help the working parents. Playing with context i.e. the existing primary school
played a crucial role in design development

The site is in ampad village near padra. It is in the center of the village providing a good access towards
the site. The existing school is at the south west end of the site giving a clear area on north side to
exercise multipurpose activities in the compound. The compound had existing buildings which had to
accommodate elsewhere in the site to get clear area for the play school.

Reading the existing school and context guided through my design. Taking up the existing lines from the
school.

SEM 3

The site is in the old city of Amritsar near the golden temple. The existing site is a shop for clothing
material. The present design should inserted into the ground floor without disturbing exiting structural
system. The material should be chosen to make construction light and accessible in the present context.
The topic is to design a eatery shop. As the height of the ground floor is about 6 meters height,
mezzanine floor can be included with consideration of access and flooring system

SEM

Building construction and technology is an important and back bone subject for architecture. More the
understanding of construction more enhanced design is done. So the proper and practical
understanding of building construction should be there. With the onsite case studies and all year round
documentation has helped understanding building construction techniques more efficiently.
The construction process starts with introduction of the lets say flooring system , starts with its
introduction as an elemental level then comes the types of techniques material used to construct floors.
Then relevant live case studies are done then they are analyzed. A he a dashing problem is given to
design a floor system.
