Universal Design for Learning (UDL): PowerPoints are a visual way of presenting information through a series
of slides. They can be used for simple lecture and class discussion style lessons. The PowerPoint for this lesson
can be used to introduce the material or used to support and review the information learned in class. This
PowerPoint can be uploaded to a class website for parents to view. The PowerPoint can also be narrated and
converted to a movie for extra support. Students can use the PowerPoint to learn the information or for later
review practice.

Lesson idea implementation: Teachers can use this PowerPoint to lead a discussion of the properties of
money. Students will engage in the lesson through watching the PowerPoint and answering the questions.
These questions can be answered individually or can engage everyone through whole class discussion. Real
world examples could be presented, and the class could discuss how much everyday object cost based on
what they learned from the PowerPoint. This would most likely be a short conversation before transitioning
into an activity for the class. The students might then work on word problems involving adding or subtracting
money. The PowerPoint can be posted online for students to review and parents to watch as well.

The conversations held in class would be an indicator for the teach to evaluate how well the students are
comprehending the information. If the PowerPoint is used for review than a formal assessment would be
used to evaluate the students’ overall knowledge of the concept. This assessment could be questions on a
test or homework completed at home.

Reflective Practice: This activity is a good introduction of the standard to the students. Making the
PowerPoint a video with narration is a good way to help those who need the support of a video. Other
activities or project involving real world examples of using money could be used to further this lesson and the
children’s understanding of the subject.
