2017 WELLNESS CAMPUS ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

I. Introduction and School Background

Manito National High School is one of the 90 secondary schools in the province of
Albay. It is located at Poblacion of Manito which is a 4th class municipality in
the province of Albay, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of
24,707 people. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the municipality has a
land area of 107.4 square kilometres (41.5 sq mi) constituting 4.17% of the 2,575.77-
square-kilometre- (994.51 sq mi) total area of Albay.
Manito is located on the south-
eastern tip of Albay, adjoining the south-
eastern limit of Legazpi City. The west
and north-west coast of Manito lies
along Poliqui Bay opposite the city of
Legazpi. To the north and north-east
coast of the municipality lies Albay Gulf.
To the east and south of Manito is the
province of Sorsogon separated by
the Pocdol Mountains, which is also called
as the Bacon-Manito Volcanic Complex.

Manito is politically subdivided


into 15 barangays. Forteen are classified
as rural areas and only
the poblacion (town center, also known
as Brgy. It-ba), is classified as an urban
area. The poblacion is situated on the
north-western seashore of the town,
south of the mouth of the Camanitohan
River. Northwest of the town center is
barangay Cawit, separated by the Caminatohan. In the 2015 census, Manito had a
population of 24,707.The population density was 230 inhabitants per square kilometre
(600/sq mi).

Manito National High School has a student population of 1300 with a faculty
members of 55 teachers. The school is being administered by Mrs. Shirley Satuito and
Ms. Wendy Claire Nimo is the wellness coordinator who implemented the wellness
program.

III. Implementation of Nutrition Modules with Teachers Lesson Plan

The suggested lesson plan integrated with nutrition modules were


implemented by the MAPEH teachers. It was implemented for almost two weeks to
improve the skills and understanding of the students.

V. School Initiated Best Practices

a. Proper planning and cooperation from the faculty members are the key in
achieving 100% correct implementation of the program. The Wellness
Coordinator created a committee to execute the planned activities.
b. The participation of parents, teachers and students are the best practices of the
school

d. Each school will be given an activity that will enhance and promote health and
wellness through innovative and creative competitions and will not just focus of
dance activities.
e. The school conducted a survey and program evaluation to monitor and assess the
success of the school wellness program

VI. School Initiated Best Practices

Conclusion:

The School-based wellness program is a success in achieving its goal and


objectives.

Recommendation:

The national organizer should create innovative and interactive activities that will
promote health and wellness and not just focus in dance activities. Moreover, financial
grant or incentives should be provided by the National Organizers to help the school to
implement the said program.
