1.Description
The testing machine is designed for testing the compressive strength of
building materials such as brick, cement mortar and concrete; it is
electro-hydraulically powered and the pressure applied on the specimen
can be displayed directly; The maximum force value can be maintained and
the data measured can be saved when the power is off; The test data can be
processed automatically and the test report can be printed

3.Construction
The testing machine consists of the machine body, hydraulic control and
measuring apparatus.

3.1 Machine body (Fig. 1)


The machine body is composed of lintel, column, screw rod with hand
wheel, oil cylinder and piston. A ball seat and upper platen are fitted at the
end of the screw rod. By the action of spherical joint, the upper compression
platen can be self-aligning. When the specimen is subject to pressure, the
screw rod can be adjusted to a proper height by rotating the hand wheel
based on the size of specimen. On the surface of lower platen there is the
locating line for the convenience of putting specimen in the center.

3.2 Hydraulic control (Fig.2)


The hydraulic control is composed of hydraulic pump, flow control valve,
oil return valve, oil tank, oil filter and pipette. The oil pump is of high
pressure axial five-plunge one driven by the motor. The flow control valve
is used for regulating flow rate. The safety valve is attached with the flow
control valve. When the oil-return valve (15) is open, the oil from oil pump
and cylinder will be transferred to the oil tank.

3.3 Measuring device


The measuring apparatus is composed of measuring unit, printer and
pressure transducer. (Please refer to the operation manual of LM Digital
Proving Unit)

3.4 Electric System (Fig.3)


The electric system is composed by motor, start and stop buttons, AC
contactor and fuse.

4. Installation and Adjustment


The machine should be installed on a prefabricated concrete foundation
with the size of 1200x650 mm, and 20-30 mm in height, the surface of which
must be leveled by 0.2/1000 leveler. Care must be taken that the machine
must be at least 0.8 m away from the wall and leave enough space around
for operation. Fix the machine with two M12 x 300 mm anchor bolts and
make sure that bolts in right positions (see foundation sketch attached).

The machine should be operated under the environment without corrosive


matter and without any vibration. Care must be taken that the operation
voltage of the power supply should be within 10% of the rated voltage. The
machine must be grounded reliably and fireproof measures should be taken
as the hydraulic oil is used in the machine.
Place the measuring device onto the top of the frame and connect the
pressure transducer with the device.

5. Operation and Points for Attention


5.1 check whether the oil in the oil tank is filled up before operation (see oil
mark), if not, fill up the oil tank.

5.2 check the connections and fasteners, and make sure that the machine is
grounded reliably and fuses in good condition.

5.3 open the oil return valve and close the flow control valve, then switch on
the power supply, press start button; press start button, close the oil return
valve and open the flow control valve to move the piston upward; check if
the piston is blocked, eliminate the troubles if any, and open the oil return
valve to make the piston to original position.

5.4 Select the specimen for test.


5.5 Place the specimen right on the center of the locating line of the lower
platen and turn the hand wheel to adjust the upper platen to a proper
position.

5.6 Switch on the power supply of the measuring device and input the
necessary data as required.

5.7 Press start button; close the oil return valve and turn the flow control
valve to start loading smoothly and evenly in the specific rate until the
specimen is crushed. Open the oil return valve gradually to let the oil
return valve gradually to let the oil return back to the oil tank.

5.8 Press print key to print test report.

5.9 Care must be taken that the lower platen should not be raise up over 4 cm
in height. (see the mark on the column).

5.11 Clear out the crushed specimen after test, open the oil return valve and
close and turn off the flow control valve and the power supply

6. Maintenance and Hydraulic Oil


6.1 It is necessary to keep the machine clean to prevent it from rust.

6.2 Check the oil periodically. Generally, it is necessary to exhaust the dirty oil
every week. The oil filter should be washed every month and replace
every half a year.

6.3 The hydraulic oil should be replaced every half a year. Clean the oil tank,
oil filter and net with kerosene when charge the oil. The oil should be
clean and no impurity should be contained for avoiding the chock up of
the oil tube, otherwise, the oil must be replaced.

6.4 Oil of different viscosity is used in different weather conditions depending


on the weather change. Flowing is the oil specifications recommended.

In case the surrounding temperature is below 20℃, GB7631.1-87 L-HM46


friction-proof hydraulic oil is recommended

In case the surrounding temperature is above 20℃, GB7631.1-87 L-HM68


friction-proof hydraulic oil is recommended

6.5 Cover the machine with the plastic cover after test
