Air pollutants can be in the form of particulate matter which can be very harmful
to our health. The level of effect usually depends on the length of time of exposure, as
well the kind and concentration of chemicals and particles exposed to.The Chemical
reactions involving air pollutants create a poisonous gas ozone (O3). Gas Ozone can
affect people’s health and can damage vegetation types and some animal life too.
Air pollution can take the form of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide or sulfur
dioxide, which are warming the planet through the greenhouse effect. According to the
EPA, the greenhouse effect is when gases absorb the infrared radiation that is released
from the Earth, preventing the heat from escaping Air pollution kills more than 2 million
Research Letters.
According to research, Peace lilies have been found to be very good at removing
these two chemicals from the air. They absorb the pollutants from the air through their
leaves, and then send them to their roots, where they're broken down by microbes in the
soil.

Peace lily they are sturdy plants with glossy, dark green oval leaves that narrow to
a point. The leaves rise directly from the soil. These plants also periodically produce
lightly fragrant white flowers that resemble calla lilies. The long-lasting flowers start out

Some peace lily leaves were gathered by the researchers from the peace lily plant
and the fishnet, hammer, nails, container, water and the exhaust fan were prepared.
Peace lily leaves will be cut into small pieces. These will be placed in the fishnet
to make sure that it won’t fall. The experimental product will be placed in the exhaust
fan.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Figure 1: Number of peace lily leaves that can reduce air pollutants
The graph below shows the number of peace lily leaves that can eliminate air
pollution through exhaust fan. It can be noted that in Treatment 1 where 1peace lily leaf
41% air pollutant was filtered. In treatment 2, two pieces of peace lily leaves were used
and 48% air pollutants were filtered. For Treatment 3, four pieces of peace lily leaves
were used and 62% air pollutants were filtered. (Yoshishiko Sadaoka 2001)

The graph below shows the amount of polluted air that peace lily leaves can
absorbed through the help of exhaust fan. It can be noted that 70 out of 100 (70%) of
pollution can be removed by the peace lily leaves through exhaust fan than the other
plant which can remove 30 out of 100 (30%) . It is therefore evident that peace lily leaves

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
From the foregoing results, the following conclusions were drawn: The peace lily
leaves is capable in reducing pollutants in air pollutants. 70 out of 100 (70%) air
pollutants can be reduced by peace lily leaves through exhaust fan. In other plant only 30
Based from the conclusion drawn, the following are set for recommendation:
1.More study on the actual amount of pollutant removed by the piece lily leaves device.
2. More research about how piece lily leaves can really absorb pollutants from polluted
area.
3.More study on what specific component is there in peace lilyleaves that is capable of
4. More study on the difference in the amount of polluted air filtered using an ordinary
