PROJECT DESCRIPTION

 Project Title: MASS BLOOD DONATION: “SAFE BLOOD FOR ALL”


 Type of Project: Bloodletting Activity for community members of Danglas
 Participants: PHO-6; PNRC- 5; DOH- 4; RHU staff- 10; Barangays- 70 (95
participants)
 Project Proponent/s: Municipal Health Office
 Project Beneficiaries: RHU, Community members of Danglas and Blood Service
Facility (PRC-Abra and Abra Provincial Hospital)

BACKGROUND/ SITUATION ANALYSIS

Blood donation is the act of giving life. Every ounce of blood donated can serve as a
lifeline for those in need of life-saving blood transfusions. Anyone’s blood can save every
person, from a little baby to an old individual. One cannot make blood; it is a gift we all have
inside of us to give to those who are injured, sick or in need.

There’s no doubt that the need for blood is huge. However, the support of donors is make
it possible to help the people in achieving a healthier, happier and fruitful life.

In relation, Republic Act No. 7719, also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994,
promotes voluntary blood donation to provide sufficient supply of safe blood and to regulate
blood banks. This act aims to inculcate public awareness that blood donation is a humanitarian
act.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Main Objective: To facilitate the collection of blood that will be utilized in saving the lives of
people who are in need of blood.
Specific Objectives:

a) To promote and encourage voluntary blood donation in the Municipality of Danglas


and to instill public consciousness on the principle that blood donation is a
humanitarian act and that the provision of blood for transfusion is not a sale of a
commodity;
b) To provide for adequate, safe, affordable and equitable distribution of supply of
blood and blood products;
c) To inform the public of the benefits of and the need for voluntary blood donation to
curb the hazards caused by the commercial sale of blood;
d) To mobilize all the sectors of the community to participate in programs and activities
on voluntary and non-profit collection of blood.

DESIRED IMPACT AND OUTCOME OF THE PROJECT

To be able to collect enough blood that will save life of people who need blood.
