PREFACE
Praise and thanksgiving the writer say to God Almighty, because of His
blessings and Grace so that the writer can complete the assignment of the paper
Real Analysis I subject entitled "Critical Book Report".
The author would like to thank the lecturer for giving his guidance in the work of
this paper.
The author also realizes that this task is still a lot of flaws, therefore the author
apologizes if there are errors in writing and the author also expects constructive
criticism and suggestions from all parties to improve the quality of subsequent
writing.
Finally, the authors say thank you, hopefully this paper can be useful and can
increase knowledge for readers and all our efforts get blessings from Him. Medan,

RESULTS OF THE BOOK REVIEW
In reviewing, the reviewer uses two different books with the same subject
matter to compare with each other, both in terms of the completeness of the material
and the way it is presented. The book that is compared is, the first book titled
Analysis of Real I and the second book titled Introduction to Real Analysis (Fourth
Edition).
In this study, the reviewer examines two chapters of each book, with the
same discussion, namely in the first book, in chapter 1 describes real numbers, and
chapter 2 explains about the set of points in the environment. Whereas in the second
book, in chapter 1 describes the background explanation of the things needed when
studying real analysis, which includes set and function, mathematical induction,
and a set of boundless and unlimited, and in chapter 2 describes real numbers .
6
In chapter 2, the book presents the material with the chapter title
"Environmental Points". In this case, the book presents several sub-chapters,
namely:
a. Environment
b. Interval
Limited intervals, unlimited intervals, nested intervals
c. Cluster Point
d. Open and set sets close
In the discussion of material in chapter 2, there is no theorem presented, there are
only definitions, examples of questions and some illustrated images that help the
reader to understand the material.
Proof presented in the book is easy to understand, because each step in the proof, is
included in the statement to the right to help the reader understand the origin of the
proof.
The use of mild language adds value to this book. This book uses more simple
languages that are easily understood by the reader, compared to using scientific
language which sometimes becomes an obstacle for the reader to understand the
purpose of the contents of the book.
7
In this book, the proof of the theorem presented is very easy to understand, because
at the time of proving the theorem, this book provides a form of direction about
things to do when proving the theorem.
Example (page 25. Theorem 2.1.3. (A) and (b))
Proof of this book is done by giving the reader first direction about the things that
will be done
(a) If
Proof:
Using (M3), (M4), (M2), the hypothesis a.b = 1, and (M3) we have
(b) If
Proof:
It suffices to assume. We multiply (M2), (M4), and (M3) to get
Since
Then we have b = 0
Although this book uses English, but the material presented is easy to understand,
because the words (vocabularies) used are words that are more general in nature
than using scientific language. This is very helpful for readers who do not have a
good understanding of English, and with the use of mild language, the interest of
readers to use books in English will be greater.

CHAPTER IV
CONCLUSION
1. Both books discuss the same material with almost the same content. It's just
that in the book Real Analysis I, the material presented is in the form of real
numbers first then sets, whereas in the book Introduction to Real Analysis,
it discusses the material set then material of real numbers.
2. In proving the theorem presented, the two books have different presentation
techniques. In the book Analysis of Real I, verification is done in sequence
with information about the properties used on the right side (in the form of
per point), whereas in the book Introduction to Real Analysis, verification
is done by describing things (traits) that will be done (in narrative form).
3. Visually, the Real I Analysis book is more neatly arranged compared to the
Introduction to Real Analysis book, but economically, the book Introduction
to Real Analysis is better than the book Analysis of Real I, because the use
of paper is more maximal, so there are not many empty parts in each sheet
in the book Introduction to Real Analysis.
4. The language used in both books is easy to understand. Although using
different languages, the English language used in the book Introduction to
Real Analysis is not complex English (using difficult language).
