REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

A personality of learners must be self-motivated type in order to explore the

opportunities of lessons in their life from an early age and not the procrastinating type
that awaits them until they are forced to decide. Students must take the part of grades in
restricting future possibilities seriously. Splaver continued, " It’s essential for you to
understand yourself, your personality, If you want to create smart plans for the future.”
(Splaver, 2000).

According to Super's (1990) Developmental Theory of Career Development, high school

students are at the exploration stage of career development, which involves crystallizing
and specifying their occupational preferences, while also making preliminary decisions
about their career choice. The review of the literature showed the areas of a student's
life affect the plans, decisions, and career choice they make: Gender, Parental
Influence, and Peer Influence. The study attempted to identify and differentiate to what
extent these factors played varying roles in future career choice.

Kroll et al (1970) shows that most of the decision-making process relating to one's
profession is based on the maturity and planning process. Opportunity is considered to
be the second factor affecting the career choices of the student. It can affect the
accuracy of learners about their future in terms of a realistic likelihood of future career
areas. It should be observed that in fulfilling aspirations, not only careers and education
influence opportunities skills, but timing and place are very crucial. Career opportunities
include educational settings, work openings at the entrance level, industry contacts,
work positioning, job shadowing, technical schools and vocational guidance. Students
show all the ambition, talent and skills needed for a career, but if at the right time the
student hasn't capitalized on the right location, their hopes for that productive career will
be reduced. Personality is the third factor influencing a profession selected. Students
generally choose career requirements that match the characteristics of the job with their
personality.

Navin (2009) proposed that exploring career alternatives before engaging in a career
would increase success and satisfaction in future careers. Thus, it is necessary to
identify and recognize variables that affect career exploration in adolescents.
Sociologists, however, emphasize the forces in culture as the main determinants of
vocational selection. Some sociologists regard the individual's birth right as the most
important factor in career selection since it creates the individual's family, ethnicity,
nationality, social class, residential district, and the person's instructional and cultural
possibilities to a big extent.
Choices made by individuals linked to their careers can be classified to be affected by
two psychological and social variables. Social factors are component of the social
bonds of an individual, their parents, family, history, and other environmental features.
Psychological variables can be the perception, cognitive and efficient intentions, values,
thoughts, character and assessments of the future company setting of an individual
(Ozen, 2011).

Abstract
Darren Fizer (2013)Today it is becoming more and more essential for young learners to
choose the correct career route. Students must take many stuff into consideration when
selecting a significant profession and college. Many factors, including parents, coaches,
religious figures, or any role models in a student's life, can influence the decision of a
student. Participation in farming clubs like FFA and 4-H can also affect the career
choices of learners. The aim of this research study was to determine what factors affect
the career path chosen by farm students. A questionnaire was developed to examine
interest areas and attributes that might have influenced students in choosing a career
path. The questionnaire was completed by 128 students at the University of Tennessee
at Martin's freshman studies classes who are planning to become major in agriculture.
Chi-square tests have been used to investigate the relationships between variables of
the research. According to this study, when selecting a major, students are most
affected by the family; 22% chose the family as the most significant factor affecting their
main decision. However, 21% of students chose "a career that is personally rewarding"
and 20% chose "FFA/4-H experience" as the most important factors that affect their
choice. FFA played a greater role in selecting a 4-H major. Farming background and
school size have not played a part in selecting a major. However, students with a
farming background were more likely than students without a farm background to plan
to work in agricultural production. The students who completed the questionnaire had a
positive career outlook. Students think that their planned careers will affect the world
positively. Students also think that in agriculture there are great career options.
Abstract
JEOFREY MTEMERI (2017)The study sought to investigate factors influencing high
school students ' choice of career paths in the Midlands Province of Zimbabwe. The
research serves as a springboard for creating a career guidance model that would
assist high school career guidance educators in their efforts to help learners make
career choices from a well-informed view. This empirical study used a survey design
that was primarily quantitative in nature. A self-designed questionnaire was used to
gather participants ' data. The survey was attended by 1,000 and 10 high school pupils
and 20 career guidance educators. Version 19 of the Social Sciences Statistical
Package calculated the percentages used to analyze the data. The research disclosed
that both nucleus and extended family members had an impact on career choices for
learners. Compared with other family members, the impact of mothers and fathers was
extremely rated. The research also disclosed that colleges had an effect on career
choices for high school learners. Career guidance, particularly college career days, has
been quoted as having a beneficial effect on career choices for learners. Schools '
geographic location has been quoted as quite important in students ' career decisions.
The research also disclosed that peers were influenced by peer guidance and
encouragement on the career choices of learners. Gender's impact on career selection,
however, was low-rated. In other words, gender did not affect the choice of careers of
the learners. There have been several recommendations. The research suggested that
parents, colleagues and educators be trained to improve career choice for learners. It
was also suggested to allow only qualified career guidance educators to teach career
guidance. Finally, a career guidance model was also suggested in the research to help
learners choose appropriate careers.

Abstract
Cavus, Geri and Turgunbayeva (2015) University students ' concerns about resulting a
job that suits their field of education and skills as well as their adaptation to company life
are significant issues that need to be addressed. Therefore, career planning to be dealt
with from the student years and having information on the factors affecting career
planning are of great importance. This research was carried out to determine the factors
affecting the career plans of graduate students of the final year after graduation. The
study includes 302 senior-class learners from two universities in Kyrgyzstan's Bishkek
City. The study information was gathered by questionnaire. Research has discovered
that the dignity of the job, financial factors, personal features and abilities, university and
present trends are the most significant variables influencing college students ' career
plans. The level of complexity of the job, family, social factors and legal commitments
was discovered to have less impact on their plans. It was discovered and noted that
there are statistically significant variations between certain variables influencing
students ' career intentions by their preferences of gender, age, college and industry in
which they wish to serve.

Abstract
Kochung Edwards and Migunde Quinter (2011) Career selection for learners is a
complicated decision as it determines the type of career they plan to follow in life. As
learners attempt to create career choices while in high school, they face the issue of
combining their career choices with their skills and results at school. In Kenya, however,
four high school learners make career choices each year before sitting for their final
examination (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams), surveys show that
most learners enter careers that are completely distinct from those they choose while in
high school. The aim of this research was to examine factors affecting career decision
in Kisumu Municipality, Kenya, among four secondary school pupils. The study was
performed with a population of 332 learners using descriptive survey design. Using
questionnaire and interview schedules, the information for this research were gathered.
The results of this research show that the most important variables influencing career
choices among learners are the availability of advancement possibilities and learning
experiences. While males recorded teaching experiences and career flexibility as the
most important variables, however, women recorded the availability of chance for
development and the chance to use abilities as the most important variables. For people
affecting career decision by gender, however, no variance was revealed.

Abstract
Ibrahim Umar (2014) The research examined the factors influencing Nigerian college
students ' career decision in accounting. Educational and behavioral science authors
tend to assign various factors that affect individual career choices. Parental influence,
self-will, better pay, prestige and future opportunities among Nigerian university learners
have been discovered to be the main influential variables in career choices. The
research used survey technique with a population of 88 learners from the Yobe State
Univesity Department of Accountancy. The finding of this research shows that the
selection of accounting among the study group is influenced by self-desire and future
prospects. Furthermore, the research proposes that the univerisity program be tailored
to the students ' wish and that society and students acquire the profession's need.
