2. Find solution using Simplex method

Max Z = 5X1 + 10X2 + 8X3
subject to
3X1 + 5X2 + 2X3 ≤ 60
4X1 + 4X2 + 4X3 ≤72
2X1 + 4X2 + 5X3 ≤ 100
and x1,x2,x3 ≥ 0

M1 3 7 9 3 5

M2 5 2 7 1 5

Part – C

(Assignment Questions) 1 X 3 = 3 Marks

Answer any ONE out of the THREE questions
5. Use Big M technique to
Minimize Z = 4X1 + X2
Subject to:
3X1 + X2 = 3,
4X1 + 3X2 ≥ 6,
X1 + 2 X2 ≤ 3,
X1, X2 ≥ 0,

6. There are 5 jobs namely, A, B, C, D, and E. These are to be assigned to 5 machines P,

Q, R, S and T to minimize the cost of production. The cost matrix is given below. Assign
the jobs to machine on one to one basis.

7. A firm is considering the replacement of a machine, whose cost price is Rs 12,200 and its
scrap value is Rs 200. From experience the running (maintenance and operating) costs
are found to be as follows:
Year 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Running Cost 200 500 800 1,200 1,800 2,500 3,200 4,000
When should the machine be replaced?
