Flashing concept software (Concept Installer)

Concept Installer can flash (install) the concept software to approved Xperia devices. To flash your
phone, follow the steps below. Notice that all your data will be lost when flashing the concept
software so make sure to back up all data before flashing. Concept Installer cannot be used for
backup & restore purposes on the concept software so use other means of backup. Read more about
backup alternatives in the community.

Please take a few minutes to read this guide, some steps contain important information!

Note: The concept software is only intended for people that have been accepted to the concept initiative. People not part of this activity
will not have access to the feedback channels.

1. Download and install Concept Installer on your PC from the link provided separately.
 Concept Installer supports Windows & Mac.
 Note that Xperia phones with unlocked boot loaders are not supported and cannot be flashed.
 Notice that all your data will be lost when flashing the concept software so make sure to back up all data before flashing.

2. Start Concept Installer. This might take some time.

3. Select the “Install Concept Software” tab
4. Make sure your phone is powered on
5. Connect your phone and wait for a while.

6. Press “Install software”. Please be patient, this will take time.

7. Enjoy your new software!

Go back to official Sony software

If you decide you want to revert back to official Sony software, follow these steps:

1. Start Concept Installer. This might take some time.

2. Select the “Install Official Software” tab
3. Make sure your phone is powered off
4. Follow the steps in the installer when connecting the device.
5. Press “Install Software” when the button is enabled. Please note that the installation
procedure will take time.

6. When the program asks you to disconnect/connect the USB, just do it. This time without
pressing volume down.

7. When phone is started after installation, the following pop up will be shown:

Just disconnect/connect the USB again.

8. After this pop up, another pop up will be shown regarding restoring the backup. Please finish
the setup guide on the phone before choosing the “Restore” option.
