Requirements:

 Smartphone, or any device with GPS and internet connection

 Google Maps
 Good memory and sense of direction

Step 1: Open Google Maps (through your phone browser or your smartphone application). Also make sure
that you have an internet connection.

Step 2: Turn on your device’s location services. If your device’s location services are turned off when you
open Google Maps, the website/application will automatically ask you to turn it on and will give you
instructions on how to turn it on.

Step 3: Once your location services are turned on, press the Location button (shown below) to show your
current location.

Step 4: Type in the name of the destination in Google Maps’ search bar. (At the top for smartphone
version; at the top right position for PC position), then press the Search button.

Step 5: After typing the name of the place, it will appear in the screen of your smartphone (left part of the

Step 7: After pressing the Transit button, you can now check nearby available jeepney routes, by showing
jeepney codes that are also displayed in passing jeepneys (Example: 06B, 17B, 06H, etc.). Pressing one of
the route choices will give you instructions. For example, Google Maps will tell you to walk to a specific
area where you can ride the jeepney. It will also tell you where you can get off the jeepney, and where to
ride the second jeepney going to your destination (Note: Some destinations require more than just one
jeepney ride, so please check your trip properly).

Step 8: Follow the instructions and monitor your location in Google Maps via GPS. By any chance that you
get lost, ask the local people for directions using your English skills. If your destination is a sightseeing spot
or a famous place, it is almost certain that they can give you the correct directions.

Additional Notes:

 You can say “para” (IPA: /ˈpɑː.rə/; a Tagalog word) to to the jeepney driver to get off the jeepney.
An alternative way is to flick the ends of your fingers against the ceiling of the jeepney three times
and repeating it until you get the driver’s attention.
 Check this website (https://cebujeepneys.weebly.com/jeepney-routes.html). It shows the back-
and-forth jeepney routes for each jeepney code using modified Google Maps layout. You can
cross-reference the information in this site with the Google Maps information found in the Transit
menu.
 You can check Google Maps and find this logo below:

[Logo with the station’s name]

 You can click the logo (it represents a station or a stopover for the jeepney), and it will show all
the jeepney codes that passes through that road. For example:

[Station Logo clicked, with all the jeepney codes, same with PC version]
 This is also a good source of information, which you can compare with other sources of
information.
