ACTIVITIES OF SECURITY GUARD & SECURITY ASSISTANT

Hotel Area
Job Description:
Security Assistant:
1. Assisting Security Officer in all kind of security related matters and act in-charge in absence of security
officer.
2. Constantly brief the guards and other security under commands about the safety of people, materials and
information.
3. In case of fire, act accordingly to the procedure and help security officer.
4. Politely ask for detailed information about purpose if anyone seems suspicious.
5. Prevent damage to hotel property.
6. Brief the guards deployed in different posts separately according to the post order.
7. Patrol the facility regularly to check for anomalies and discrepancies. If any breach of safety security is found,
immediately inform security officer.
8. CCTV monitoring.
9. Check if all the guards are alert and maintaining registers properly.
10. Check when loading or unloading is in progress.
11. Inform Security officer if any boundary or perimeter is found to be insecure.
12. Visit guard posts and supervise the procedure.
13. Counter-check if the registers in duty post are maintained properly.
14. Report any kind of incidents/accidents in progress or any property/people in threat to the security officer.
15. Behave politely and help guest(s) as much as possible when necessary.

Guards:
A. Porch Traffic
Vehicle will be considered of two types:
a. Guest vehicle
b. Government/Police vehicle
Procedure:
The car arrives at the porch, guest alight from the car and the chauffeur moves the car out of the porch/
valet driver takes the car for parking.
1. Direct with hand for incoming cars to move on.
2. If porch gets congested, stands at the center of the porch to ensure that at least one lane are always kept free
for the flow of traffic.
3. Move forward and backward, controlling the flow of cars.
4. First get to the car which is obstructing the traffic flow.
5. Greet with “Good morning/afternoon/evening Sir/Madam’’. Request guest(s) to leave car at such a place that
traffic flow is not obstructed.
6. Counter foil of car tag must be given to all the guest’ who are leaving the car for valet parking.
7. Once the incoming flow of car reduces, car left at the porch should be immediately parked and the porch is
cleared.
8. Open doors and greet guests if required.

B. Vehicle Entrance Check Point


Vehicle will enter from south gate, park in the basement and exit through the eastern gate.
Vehicle will be considered of five types:
a. Guest vehicle for parking.
b. Associates’ personal vehicle.
c. Hotel vehicle.
d. Cargo vehicle for parking.
e. Government/Police vehicle.

Procedure:
1. Show/hold up signs advertising parking lot fees.
2. Follow mirror checking.
3. Issue ticket, use hand signals and lights to direct chauffeurs into open spots.
4. Issue tags to customers to put up in their windshields for display.
5. Take tickets from waiting chauffeurs.
6. Collect fees from chauffeurs wishing to retrieve vehicles and dispense change if person pays fee to park.
7. Give directions to nearest highway or destination.
8. Call tow trucks if person is parked illegally.
9. In case of Government/Police, associate and vendor’s cargo vehicle, no fee shall be charged.
10. Check for sticker that Government vehicle shall have at front windshield (Name of the Ministry).
11. Register the name of the police station and responsible personnel’s name.
12. In case of government and police vehicle entrance, Security Assistant /security officers to be informed.
13. Check ID and entry the registration no and driver’s name of associate’s / Hotel’s vehicle.
14. Cargo vehicles must have delivery/gate pass, check and register.

C. Main Entrance DFMD

Main entrance shall consist of scanner and archway gate manned with security guard both male and female.

Procedure:

1. Greet guest(s) and request to pass the hand bags, metal and electronic devices (keys, coins, mobile phones
etc.) way around of the archway.
2. Run the hand metal detector around the bag.
3. If metal presence is detected, check the hand bag.
4. If archway detects any metal ask the guest(s) what is detected and follow physical checking procedure. Male
guard shall attend the male guest(s) when female guard will attend female guest(s).
5. If any unauthorized item (fire arms, knives, drugs etc.) is found, request guest to deposit to the security and
inform the Security Assistant or duty security officer.
6. Anyone identified as non-guest(s) shall be stopped and direct to the appropriate entrance (delivery man,
associate etc.)
7. Any kind of suspicion, emergency or discrepancy must be informed to Security Assistant or security officer.
8. If someone is asking about any information, direct him/her to the front-desk politely.

D. Associate Entrance DFMD

Associate(s) shall enter from North-East corner gate where post will be manned by both a male and female
security guard(s) carrying hand-metal detector.

1. Greet associate(s) and request to pass the hand bags, metal and electronic devices (keys, coins, mobile
phones etc.) for checking.
2. Check he/she is carrying ID card or not. If not request him/her to contact with concerned department for
identification. Immediately inform to the security officer.
3. Security Guard should inspect or ask persons to declare contents of any suspicious packages or luggage.
4. Associate(s) shall punch their ID card at their own.
5. Run the hand metal detector around the bag.
6. If metal presence is detected, check the hand bag.
7. Male guard shall attend the male associate(s) when female guard will attend female associate(s) for physical
check.
8. Anyone identified as fraud shall be stopped, apprehended and informed to the Security Assistant /Security
Officer on duty.
9. Any kind of suspicion, emergency or discrepancy must be informed to Security Assistant or security officer.
10. If associate(s) having any guest(s), issue each of the guest(s) visitor ID card and request them to entry
particulars in the register and let guest(s) through by punching security card.
11. Guest(s) asking for any associate to meet shall be politely requested to wait. Guard should ask for any
previously set appointment and contact the requested associate(s) for ID confirmation.
12. Guest(s) asking for any hotel information shall be politely avoided for information security.

E. Banquet Entrance
Banquet guest(s) shall enter from the southern gate and head for banquet lifts. This gate shall be manned
with both a male and a female guard(s) with metal detector.
1. Guest(s) shall be greeted and requested for the invitation card. No one would be allowed to enter through the
banquet entrance without an invitation card.
2. Guest(s) shall be checked properly with metal detector.
3. Male guard shall attend the male associate(s) when female guard will attend female associate(s) for physical
check.
4. If guest(s) is /are carrying any gift it shall be deposited to the reception after running metal detector around it.
5. Run the hand metal detector around any personal bag carried by guest(s).
6. If metal presence is detected, check the hand bag.
7. Any kind of suspicion, emergency or discrepancy must be informed to Security Assistant or security officer.
8. Any kind of dispute or fight must be reported to the Security Assistant or Security officer immediately and in
no way shall a guard participate or try to handle the situation.
9. Guest(s) asking for any hotel information shall be politely avoided for information security.
10. Anyone identified as fraud shall be stopped, apprehended and informed to the Security Assistant /Security
Officer on duty.

F. Car Park

1. Check vehicles for damage and register for anomalies/damages.


2. Manipulate vehicles to take advantage of all spaces.
3. Position or remove barricades to prevent parking in certain spots.
4. Open doors and greet guests if required.
5. Help guest(s) locate their vehicles.
6. Resolve parking lot disputes that occur between guest(s).
7. Escort guest(s) to their vehicles if needed.
8. Help chauffeurs exit parking garage safely.
9. Patrol the area and check for any discrepancy (theft in progress, drug abuse, Fire hazard etc.).
10. Any kind of suspicion, emergency or discrepancy must be informed to Security Assistant or security officer.
11. Any one asking for any hotel information shall be politely avoided for information security.
12. Anyone identified as fraud shall be stopped, apprehended and informed to the Security Assistant /Security
Officer on duty.

G. Loading area and gate

1. Checking delivery/gate pass of the cargo vehicle.(authorization)


2. Ask about the delivery product.
3. If previously scheduled then match with the list of deliveries that are expected to come in or go out.
4. Contacting concerned department for confirmation.
5. Check vehicle for damage and register for anomalies/damages.
6. Fill out the In-Out register.
7. Help drivers to enter and exit loading/unloading area safely.
8. Stay around when products/materials are being loaded/unloaded.
9. Any kind of suspicion, emergency or discrepancy must be informed to Security Assistant or security officer.
10. Any one asking for any hotel information shall be politely avoided for information security.
11. Anyone identified as fraud shall be stopped, apprehended and informed to the Security Assistant /Security
Officer on duty.

H. Banquet Entrance
Banquet guest(s) shall enter from banquet lifts and come out to 14th, 15th, and 16th. This gate shall be
manned with two male guard(s).
1. Guest(s) shall be greeted and requested for the invitation card. If someone forget to bring invitation card,
request him/her politely to bring it otherwise advice to contact at banquet reception.
2. Guest(s) shall monitored at this area, especially in the pre-function area.
3. If guest(s) is /are carrying any gift, it shall have been deposited to the banquet reception. If someone missed,
request him/her politely to deposit it at banquet reception.
4. Any kind of suspicion, emergency or discrepancy must be informed to Security Assistant or security officer.
5. Any kind of dispute or fight must be reported to the Security Assistant or Security officer immediately and in
no way shall a guard participate or try to handle the situation.
6. Guest(s) asking for any of hotel information shall be politely avoided for information security.
7. Anyone identified or reported as fraud shall be stopped and informed to the Security Assistant /Security
Officer on duty.
8. Anyone reporting any incident/accident among the guest, one guard should stay behind while other shall
address the problem.

I. Retail Area Shop


1. Keep a watchful eye on stock, staff and the customers; particularly suspicious customers.
2. Prevent any theft or damage from taking place from within the store.
3. Help customers if required.
4. Anyone reporting any incident/accident, guard should inform Security Assistant /security officer and on
permission address the problem.
5. Anyone identified or reported as fraud shall be stopped and informed to the Security Assistant /Security
Officer on duty.
6. Any kind of dispute or fight must be reported to the Security Assistant or Security officer immediately and in
no way shall a guard participate or try to handle the situation.

Commercial Area:

1. Entrance/Exit Area:

1. Greet people and request to pass the hand bags, metal and electronic devices (keys, coins, mobile phones
etc.) for checking.
2. Run the hand metal detector around the bag.
3. If metal presence is detected, check the hand bag.
4. Male guard shall attend the male associate(s) when female guard will attend female associate(s) for physical
check.
5. Anyone identified as fraud shall be stopped, apprehended and informed to the Security Assistant /Security
Officer on duty.
6. Any kind of suspicion, emergency or discrepancy must be informed to Security Assistant or security officer.
7. Guest(s) asking for any associate to meet shall be politely requested to wait. Guard should ask for any
previously set appointment and contact the requested associate(s) for ID confirmation.
8. Guest(s) asking for any hotel information shall be politely avoided for information security.

2. Reception/Lift Lobby

1. To keep a close watch on people loitering in the vicinity of the guest lift lobby (and surrounding area). To
approach all suspected undesirable characters and politely inquire their purpose of being in the area. If they
are non-guest or merely visitors, refer them to the Reception.
2. Maintain the discipline in lift lobby.
3. If too many people gather for lift, request them to maintain a queue.
4. Lookout for people with suspicious movement.
5. Lookout for suspicious belongings any guest or commercial employee carrying.
6. Prevent anyone from smoking around the area.
7. To ensure that call girls and prostitutes do not enter the hotel premises to solicit for clients.
8. To alert the Security Officer on duty the existence of any undesirable person with details of his / her physical
description, dress and race.
9. To ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

3. Arcade Entry:

1. Prevent commercial employees to enter in to hotel hub.


2. Only guests/associates should be allowed to enter or exit through this door.
3. None other can enter or exit thorough this door.
4. Pull the door for guests/associates.
5. Discourage people to crown in front of the door.
6. Lookout for people with suspicious movement.
7. Lookout for suspicious belongings any guest or associate carrying.
8. Prevent anyone from smoking around the area.
9. Ensure that call girls and prostitutes do not enter the hotel premises to solicit for clients.
10. Alert the Security Officer on duty the existence of any undesirable person with details of his / her physical
description, dress and race.
11. Guest(s) asking for any hotel information shall be politely avoided for information security.

4. West-East Corner/RMU Room:

5. Basement Exit Toll Collection Point:

1. Identify the vehicle, collect parking ticket and payment, verify and entry into the software/register as provided.
2. If someone is not carrying ticket, politely ask them to bring back the ticket.
3. None should be allowed to enter through this gate except on duty security personnel.
4. Check if someone carrying anything while exiting from this gate.
5. Direct any vehicle trying to enter form this gate.
6. Any kind of suspicion, emergency or discrepancy must be informed to Security Assistant or security officer.
7. Any one asking for any hotel information shall be politely avoided for information security.
8. Prevent anyone from smoking around the area.
9. Position or remove barricades to prevent parking in certain spots.
10. Verbally guide to the nearest highway or other direction if asked.
