Clustering with Network Evolution Model

Clustering is one of the most interesting problem in networking, data mining etc. This problem
becomes challenging when the parameters responsible for clustering becomes time varying. One
such problem is accounted in wireless sensor networks. In this particular problem the clustering is
based on the location and the strength at which one node is connected to one another . Now as the
times passes by the connection strength between the nodes depreciates as the result leading to the
increase in cluster heads. This dispersive nature of clustering leads to quick death of the nodes and
subsequently the network.
To tackle this problem of quick death due to dispersive nature of clustering is addressed by the
concept of network evolution model [1]. This model leads to the construction of optimizing matrix
[2] which represents the visual walk through for the optimum cluster size change between time
intervals. Another implication of this network evolution model is that it determines the number of
cluster heads required for optimal energy usages without using the communication theory.
When the concept of network evolution model is applied on LEACH type of protocols, then the
performance is enhanced to 150%.
